tell them nicely, no and sometimes they get aggressive. this happens to me few times a month. i know this has nothing to do with POTW. where do we post situations like i described?
I DON'T SEE THE LONG TIME MEMBERS DOING THIS. it the people who are posting their business ads 25 times a day. people that dopn't seem to use Adland for the fun, community and social.
i would like to see people self nominating themselves for POTW. would not bother me at all.

Hi Pat,
Yes I have had the pop up messages that are not invited or wanted. I usually politely ask the person to send me a direct message if they want to communicate. I do not like the Instant Message aspect of Adlandpro. It does not seen to work correctly. I would like to see it done away with completely. Does anybody here use it an like it?
And I too am coming around to the self nominating idea. There are times that if you don't pat (no pun intended here) yourself on the back nobody will.

ahh the wonderful chat box ^-^. Does it work properly? NOPE! Is the idea a good one? I think like anything it can and has been misused by people. Many communities and I am thinking Facebook and G+ have the feature and most people realize the value and the power to building relationships via "talking". I guess like anything else we need to educate people on all aspects of knowing how to be social ( a bit of a funny for everyone... on here you will get "hit on" for advertising...on FB..you just get hit on....lol, now don't try to tell me that was not funny ^-^)
On the more serious side and as I have said before, self promotion via self nominating is not a bad thing, as long as it is done for the right reason. when you really think about it, you may nominate yourself...the reality is that you still need to win, which means people have to vote for you.
It should not matter if you are a marketer, a social media expert, a social butterfly etc. You still need to be active and be credible in what you are doing... I think I'm right here...
