Hi Kathy! :-)
Everyone here has had some really great responses to this topic! I believe you hit on a common hot button here.
Friendship. Webster defines it simply as: "The state of being friends." So what is a "friend"? Well, Webster's best definition is: "A person whom one knows well AND is fond of; intimate association; close acquaintance".
Should a friendship be unconditional? ABSOLUTELY! Can it though? One would like to think. I most certainly believe so......I accept my personal freinds for who they are - nothing more, nothing less. But @ the same time.....if they do something that is out of line? You can bet your bottom dollar I'm going to tell them so! That's what a friend does. One can't always see their own errors........
Now as far as having friends here @ AdLand? I don't have any sort of direct personal contact with someone unless they are on my business team........ So in that respect - those people would be nothing more than mere freindly acquaintences to me.
As far as the united front? I'm not sure if there ever has been that here. You can go into any marketing forum online......and you'll find the same thing going on there as well. You know......we talk about these things @ the various seminars and conferences throughout the year. And this topic is never new news. Sometimes the stories are actually quite funny!
But I do belive that a more professional atmosphere here is needed. Marketers here need to respect the fact that others have a product/company that they are passionate about. If someone isn't interested in what you are promoting.....don't take it personally. It's not you they are turning down.
Remember....they have a business already. If they see a value in what you have......they'll let you know.
Also, I have yet to meet anyone here that knows everything there is about online marketing. (If they did.......they wouldn't be a free member here @ AdLand now would they?!) If some here could get past their egos......they just might learn something from someone else!
My 2 cents......
