Hello Johnathan,

I am a long way off in the UK but I am a hypnotherapist and an N.L.P. practitioner.

I deal on a daily basis with depression and I am no stranger to the illness having twice in my life been traumatised and suffered.

You can contact me via my profile if I can help.

I will start by making a prayer for you and by saying this, You created your depression, not by choice but by a process.

YOU can start a new process today which will make that old feeling redundant.

I wish you well in whatever help you are offered and take. Remember, you are unique and you are important.

I can certainly identify with your depression.  I have for many years struggled with depression.  In my case it was at least partially the result of a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of of my tour in Vietnam in 1968.  Finally, I sought out counselling from the Veterans Administration.  I had for many years refused to address my feelings of depression or anxiety about the war and whether I had done the right thing and keeping them all bottled up inside.   Gradually it progressed to the point where I was doubting or second guessing my every day decisions and actions both on the job and at home.

I am still undergoing counselling, but not as frequently.  To summarize the counselling  taught me to face the feelings, give them a name, and talk to talk about your feelings or depression to others.  I was supressing my feelings thinking that no one cared or wanted to hear my problems.  The first step is to recognize that your friends and family do care.

You are right in asking for help.  I am not sure that this forum is the means to do that; however, we at Adland do care.  Most of the posts have said, "I care and I will earnestly pray and I will listen".  And I will do the same.  I would strongly urge you to seek professional help.

As a part of my therapy and the need to confront my depression, I wrote a series of poems.  I have shared three of those poems in my forum, http://community.adlandpro.com/forums/19018/ShowForum.aspx

I would invite you to look at them.

Your friend

Chuck

Hello Again Jonathon and Friends

The reason that I have come back here to post again is because I am very concerned about your situation Jonathon. Depression can be a very serious problem with very serious consequences if not properly diagnosed and treated. I know that everyone here has nothing but the best of intentions but right now, this type of advice may not be in your best interest. The fact that your depression has reached a point where it limits your ability to function properly in your day to day living tells me that you could possibly be at or very near a crises stage. It is very important that you seek professional help as soon as possible. If you, for some reason, are unable to go personally to a doctor or hospital right away, the following link will take you to a page listing many resources that can be reached by phone. Here, you will be able to find someone that can give you the best advice as to what you should do right now regarding your present situation. If you do not have access to a phone then please respond back to this forum and I'm sure that someone will make a call for you. Good luck to you Jonathon and just remember, you are not alone. We are all here to help you get the care you need.
