Hello Linda, I am one person who is nominated for POTW but not yet have been successful. Your question is a very good one. I try to participate in the main Adlandpro when I can. I think it depends on whose friendship lists you are on and how many forums you participate in. I am still building my friendship list as I changed profile names earlier this year from 91136 to CurrencyLass because I did not want to be known as a number (particularly the 911 part)
At present I have other matters pressing on my time on the net. I have an offline business that keeps me going as I am interacting with both customers and representatives and managers and my husband has some health issues that need to be resolved. I need to attend his medical appointments with him so that I can be part of the carer and healing process. The carer role is very important to help someone who will be recovering from surgery.
But to get back to the question, some of my friends in Adlandpro have a wide circle of friends and yet others are still building up their friendships. Back to the issue of forums. Successful forums require time and commitment and it seems that those who are very active in forums both initiator and participant seem to be nominated most offen. I am quite sure that there are other members of Adlandpro who do not participate in forums but yet are the quiet achievers working away in their businesses and who are helping others to do the same.
I have noticed that other members have initiated alternative Persons of the Week; Sites of the Week; and so on to recognise other well deserving people in Adlandpro. Not everone can be the main person of the week but these alternative recognition processes are also healthy for the Adlandpro Community.
Thank you Linda for raising this issue.
Sincerely,
Christine Gleeson aka CurrencyLass
