Re: Cheri, Winston, Deborah, Martha, Kathy... html/website unit

Hi Winston; ----- What is this meta tag for??? ----- First of all, have a quick read - here. It's really short; http://www.lindacaroll.com/scumware.html Because of public protest, some of those companies are now defunct. Gator, for example, has changed their business model. Microsoft withdrew Smart Tags from active use in their software - but left in the capability and said they *may* use them in subsequent releases. The tag you asked about disables smart tags so that should they ever be implemented in future browser upgrades, they will not function on pages that I write. I figure I might as well do whatever I can to keep scumware and un-authorized advertising off my sites and sites I create. : ) : ) Linda

Thanks Linda. I thought perhaps it had to do with something like this. Too bad there's not a single tag out there to disable anyone from doing this.

Linda, This is probably a no-brainer, but how much material should one have on their site before they open it to the public? This is one area, that you haven't covered to date and I was just wondering if it makes any difference.

Hi, Linda, fellow testers It took me a while to get started...outside workload, like Martha. But I finally got going and just wanted to say that you make it easy, Linda. Who knew? On the other hand, I can tell from your exchanges with Winston that there's a whole lot more that I probably don't even want to know, lol. Just the basics for me! Enough to add content, and then if I need something else fancy, I know who to hire. :-) Linda, I asked you in private mail about the tag that masks affiliate codes. Thanks for confirming my deduction. Do you know of a reason it wouldn't work in Adland forums? I tried it in My Offers forum. The forum looks ok, but when the mouse hovers over the link, I get most of the whole code (including the affiliate link) in the task bar. For some reason it's cut off at the front and back, the middle is what you see in the task bar. Have double-checked the code and can't find the error. Now I'm wondering if it's time for those new glasses, or if it just doesn't work here. Other than that, I'm good so far. No questions of consequence. However, I'm now stricken with not-good-enough-itis. Nothing I've written while waiting for this module now seems good enough to add to my site. Worked for some time to condense a 1200-word article about a friend for the True Inspirations page and managed to get it to 1000, but still too long, and it looks like a forum post instead of an article. Maybe I need to do a copywriting course, too. And it's back to work on the real estate agency tomorrow. I say again, I need a 36-hour day. Cheri
