Re: Strange Money #5: Network Marketing Q/A

Hey Gary; =========================================== From the glittering stage: Dave Double-Diamond: "Go out and get yourself ten customers. Voice from the enthralled crowd: "How many have you got Dave?" Dave Double-Diamond: "And teach all your downline to do the same!" Voice from the enthralled crowd: "How many have you got Dave?" =========================================== What you are doing here is perfectly illustrating my point. You see, I know how to run a business. As such, I know that "recruiting" is the proverbial "path to profit" in pyramids and ponzis - selling product is the path to success in a true MLM. After all, an "mlm" is just a business with a multi tiered commission payment structure. But still a BUSINESS. If I sat in that audience, I would immediately make an assessment. Either this leader sucks, or the product sucks and he doesn't want us to know that. Then my job would be to find out which one it is. If it's the product - find a different company. If it's the leader, find a different leader, or quietly strive to BECOME one. A lot of people lack the savoir faire to know that. Why? Because they don't know how to run a business or assess what is (and is not) a good opportunity - and they're there in the first place because they don't "want to" be an employee anymore. Which harkens back to Hubbard's letter. : ) Linda

Hi Linda, After all, an "mlm" is just a business with a multi tiered commission payment structure. I think it is more accurate to say MLM is a business model. Similarly, Network Marketing is a business model. The distribution method (including compensation) is the part of the business that makes it differnent from a more conventional business model. In my opinion, people are attracted to the distribution method and think they have a great business opportunity. Soon they forget they are actually working for someone else. It's a pretty cool deception. 8-)

Linda, I am not a fan of MLM programs...I do not endorse them. I am into "people helping people" to better their lives. Thank you so much for this information Have a blessed and successful day! Jack, You seem to distinguish MLM and Network Marketing as two different types of business models. Could you please claify why you do that? The reason I ask is because I have never seen anyone separate the terms like that before. For as long as I can remember they have have both been used to descirbe the MLM business model.
