Re: Strange Money #5: Network Marketing Q/A

Winston, Right on friend! Getting heaps of heads into the downlines is the "glamour" work. Selling products to consumers is regarded as the "icky" side of the business. It's one of the many things that the "big-pins" tell everyone else to do but don't want to do themselves. From the glittering stage: Dave Double-Diamond: "Go out and get yourself ten customers. Voice from the enthralled crowd: "How many have you got Dave?" Dave Double-Diamond: "And teach all your downline to do the same!" Voice from the enthralled crowd: "How many have you got Dave?" Dave Double-Diamond: "Betsy Double-Diamond looks after that. Next question?" Heh, this is stealing a bit of a future point that I want to make BUT... as I always say: "Three-fifths of five-eighths of nothing is still nothing." No product movement = no profit. So true Winston. Well stated. Gary Simpson

Hey Bob; ========================================== What a great letter. I am amazed I haven't seen that before... I'm a little slow though, why is it relevant? Is the point kinda the same as the Thomas Edison story? Doggedness and determination wins the day? ========================================== Nope, not like the Edison story at all. The way it's relevant is that *most* people (according to Hubbard's letter) don't know how to run a business - and they aren't great employees, either, because they think "the boss" is trying to pull one over on them. Can't give an order and won't take one. To succeed in MLM, a person needs to be able to run a business or follow instructions from someone who can. As Winston pointed out - it doesn't matter how many people you recruit if none of them know how to move product. Sometimes MLM sucks because the product isn't all that hot and is overpriced. Wrong choice of MLM. Other times, MLM "sucks" because no one knows how to MOVE product. *Most* people don't know how to move product and they won't listen to anyone that does. And then they wail that MLM sucks. : ) Linda
