Message to Garcia....
11/13/2005 11:52:49 PM
========================================== Most people work for a living hating their job, wishing they could get out of the rat race. Most people DO NOT and WILL NOT be their own boss, and own their own business. ========================================== On Feb 22, 1899, after a trying day, Elbert Hubbard dashed off a letter and ran it in the next day's edition of the Philistine. He thought it was so insignificant that he didn't even put a title on it. Millions of reprints were ordered because of that letter. Then the letter was printed as a "pamphlet" (booklet) and became one of the TOP selling books of all time, selling countless millions of copies. It is said to be the book with second highest sales ever known. It's called "A Message To Garcia" and it's now in the public domain. You can read the original letter here. Pasted into Microsoft word, it's just over one page. (quick read) http://www.birdsnest.com/garcia.htm If you want to read the forward Elbert Hubbard wrote when it went to book form; http://hightechbiz.com/pub/messagetogarcia.htm Once you've read it, you'll understand this; MOST people cannot give orders and will not take them MOST people can not take a message to Garcia : ) Linda

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Most people DO NOT and WILL NOT make more money than they will spend." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ INCOMING!!!! And you can take that to the Bank! Hey! That wasn't so bad, was it? I for one have certainly come to realize this over the years. That being said Gary, it will be interesting to read your reasons on why that is the case.

Linda, What a great letter. I am amazed I haven't seen that before, being the number 2 book? of all time. Number 1 being Harry Potter, I suppose? I'm a little slow though, why is it relevant? Is the point kinda the same as the Thomas Edison story? Doggedness and determination wins the day? Bob. p.s. Pour la belle Cheri... I like your posts, don't abridge them.

Ah Bob and Cheri, I LOVE it when you guys do the French tete-a-tete. It makes me feel like Gomez Addams. "Tish, you spoke French..." Frivolity aside, Winston you wanted to know my reasons for saying what I did when I lobbed the first "grenade." Seriously, I was expecting everyone to tear my throat out over that. Pretty tame so far. Well, I have many reasons. The main one being that MOST people (Bob) simply have NO IDEA how much work is involved. They join up under their saviour, I mean sponsor, and say: "OK. Here I am. Make me successful!" That's a common expectation. Linda! How wonderful of you to mention "Message to Garcia." That was one of the first little books I was given with my MLM trainer wheels. Marvelous story - all about going the extra mile or kilometer or whatever it is wherever you are. I still have my original copy with the plain brown cover. Who would have thought what it contained! Just slipped the pin back into the second grenade. I think we have a bit further to go on the fallout from this one yet. Gary Simpson

Gary, that is definitely a problem isn't it. Here's another reason which rates right up there near the top of my list? People don't teach their teams/downlines how to retail their products/services. They focus all their attention on the act of sponsoring. While sponsoring is obviously important in building a successful MLM business, even more important is the movement of products/services. So no matter how big of an organization you build, without Sales . . . there's no $$$.
