Re: Strange Money #5: Network Marketing Q/A

Hi Heather, For a day or two I thought maybe Linda had you tied up. While that might have been, never mind. No, I was just keeping out of things until the ship got back on course. See I started the sentence with "no", a positive reinforcement of the negative. ;)

Stud Muffin (manly enough for you?), ========== Well, let's say peons and minions then if puppet is an unsuitable term. To the exalted ones at the peak of the MLM they have minions whipping the peons into shape. If a peon leaves or a dozen leave then they are just replaced. The minions see to it. Hence my "two arms, two legs and a heartbeat" comment. ========== So what is the point in recruiting them in the first place? That's what I don't get!!! ========= I can see how you attained that position at such a young age and have maintained it ever since. Your industry is a tough and unrelenting one. I know it well. You are obviously seen as a great asset to the business. I am actually amazed that you haven't been poached by a competitor. Could it be loyalty that keeps you there? ========== I don't switch teams. I normally stick with my team. As far as my position, I have MY mom to thank for that. My father, my daughter and myself all have a rare kidney disorder that affects the bones. We have bowing of the legs and as I've mentioned previously, I am extremely small. Anyway, my father's mother was so racked with guilt for passing this on to my father that she unmercifully coddled him. To this day, he does very little for himself. She always told him he couldn't or shouldn't for fear he'd get hurt. My mother....maybe she had a second of remorse about me inheriting this, but she went the complete opposite route. Her motto was, try it, if it hurts, stop, otherwise, go like the wind. Although I probably experienced more guilt with Chiara, because I'm the one who passed it to her, where my mother didn't pass it, my dad did, I strive everyday to adopt her attitude. What I've come to learn is that whether I'm bow legged or not, whether I'm tiny or tall, I should put my all into everything I try and NO ONE can make me feel or do anything that I don't ALLOW. Probably more info than you needed, but it really is where that mind set came from.

Linda, ========== Don't *I* think? Of course. Heck, I used to do that to my EX. lol The washer didn't eat socks. The garbage did. And magazines, and game pieces. ========== We have to be related somehow, LOL! ========== Yes, I think people should be aware that their choices affect them. But, sadly, most people choose not to. It's easier to blame someone else. Then, the next step is to start beating the drum and marching in the pity parade. Except the pity parade goes nowhere except around and around in a circle. ========== I think it maybe more that people aren't held accountable, and in my opinion, that's just sad. Sorry, I'm know I'm placing blameg here, but parents feed that way of thinking. No, not my kid, never. And I hate to say it, put society plays right into too.

Stud muffin!!!!!! Heather my little honey blister... what will people think? Should one even care? Should what others think even be our business? Hmm. These are all matters to ponder upon. Seriously, I am sorry to learn about your family condition. I have something in my family that is similar but not as threatening. ======================= "I should put my all into everything I try and NO ONE can make me feel or do anything that I don't ALLOW." ======================= Well said! You also said: ======================== "So what is the point in recruiting them in the first place? That's what I don't get!!!" ======================== Aha! I'm glad you asked. I have two things to say on that (as if anyone would think there was just one!) First, remember Forrest Gump and the line about a box of chocolates? You never know what you're gonna get... ... well these days they put a picture on the box so that spoiled that. Anyway, some people look good and they talk big and they even smell good (if you get that close) but they turn out to be real duds. You know? The gunna's of this world. They're always gunna do something but never ever get around to it. Then... ... and here is a BIG point I'd like to make - most people in MLM sponsor downward. What I mean by that is they tend to target down the old socio-economic scale. Sorry if this sounds a bit crass or distasteful but it happens. Eventually what you get are a whole bunch of no-hopers down on the lowest level and then the die-back begins. They all drop out or sit and do nothing so MORE people have to be found. Sometimes a "diamond in the rough" is found and one MLM leg gets a surprising kick along. I always used to liken it to finding the Aces in a deck of cards. You have 52 cards and you know that sooner or later you are bound to turn up an ace but if you go out deliberately targetting the dueces then that is what you will get. Seek and ye shall find. Again, it is a numbers game. Maybe you will turn up 48 cards before you find that first ace. Chances are that won't happen but it could. Heh, I might win lotto tonight too. LOL! And what about the Jokers. If someone has thrown them into the pack then that can be a challenge too. I hope people understand what I am saying here. Gary Simpson

Gee! Go a way for a few seconds and look what happens! OK . . . so it was a few hours. But still! You people have sooooo much to say that it's hard to keep up! :-) Good article Peter! A valuable lesson in life can be learned from the application of the information within. ---------------------------------------------- Here's another possible topic though it was touched on briefly earlier. A very important aspect which will have to be overcome to gain back the confidence in at least some who had major issues with this area. Namely, the Motivational Tool Business? What does the future look like? Will the so called King-pins still be able to capitalize on this market the same way they did in the past? How is the internet impacting this business? Will the future of this business come from upline who provide this information to their downline Free of charge through the medium of a website (via articles/audio/video etc)?
