Honey bubble dew drop, ===================== "That goes back to people getting into MLM because they think it's quick money. And those who use guilt as a tactic are merely preying upon those who are weak which in reality is only going to drag them down in the long run." ====================== All true. And this goes back to what Linda said a few posts back about marriage/divorce. Recruiters in MLM will basically take anything with two arms, two legs and a heartbeat. Then they subject them to the "system" which crawls all over them like the ebola virus thanks to the master puppeteers in the lofty towers pulling the strings. Hammer them into shape. With respect to loyalty, nobody likes to be branded a dissident or a traitor to the cause. And MLM is a cause. I have been in some that certainly behave like a coven or a cult. The Grand Poobah is all powerful. He can do anything or say anything and everybody has to accept and applaud it. Those who don't are watched and singled out for intensive "counselling." There is so much psychology tied up in MLM, much of it negative (in my opinion!). Finding the "hot" button for a distributor is all part of it. For some that is greed, for others praise or something else but when all else fails the thing that always works is the notion of "letting down the team." Nobody wants to do that. Soldiers die for it. "You want to build this business for your wife/husband/children don't you? Are you willing to let them down?" How often I heard those words being used. Is that a guilt trip? I certainly think so. I don't know anybody who likes to be singled out as "letting down the team." Much of the foundation of MLM is based on loyalty to the group. Each distributor has to do or be seen to do the group thing. That is what the king pins prey on as Heather mentioned. Gary Simpson

Agreed Linda, with a small rider... ======================== Anything is "quick money" if you know how to sell. ======================== ... or the thing you are selling is so damn hot that everybody wants it! Then you could be the worst salesperson on the face of the earth and people will still buy from you (once maybe, but they will still buy). Gotta have it. Gotta have it. Gotta have it. Gary Simpson

Fuzzy bunny, ============ Honey bubble dew drop, ============ I see I'm going to have to start wearing Depends when I enter this forum from now on. I understand what you're saying, but I don't completely agree. People only get treated they way they ALLOW others to treat them, and they only BELEIVE what they CHOOSE to BELEIVE. I think Linda hit the nail on the head with a frigging rocket ship when she said it's all about choices. I don't allow people to guilt me, and the only Grand Poobah I'm afraid of is my momma. (I know at 33 years of age that's just plain old pathetic, but it's true. The woman could stare down a statue when you get on her bad side.) And as far as loyalty goes, anybody that really knows me, knows that I make a canine look disloyal, so that card also can't be played with me. I think you need to be strong in mind, spirit and ethics to get involved in MLM. I find it very hard to picture someone frustrating you to the point of making you "give up" (for a better lack of words) on something. I do things my way, at my pace and I'm not afraid to ask for help when I need, which is exactly why I'm here at Adland.

Hi: ========================================== Recruiters in MLM will basically take anything with two arms, two legs and a heartbeat. Then they subject them to the "system" which crawls all over them like the ebola virus thanks to the master puppeteers in the lofty towers pulling the strings. ========================================== Master puppeteers in the lofty towers? Great descriptive and very melodramatic - but a puppet does not have the ability to say "to h*ll with this" and walk away. A human does. Just like you did, David did and tons of others did. My mother used to say "When you point the finger, three point back." I raised my daughter on the phrase "blamers are lamers." See, I think that as long as we are ascertaining *who* to blame, it's all too easy to forget that WE had a part in the situation. There are very few situations where true victimization occurs. No one *forced* anyone to sign up for an MLM or to stay in it. Both are choices. So is leaving. All that happens when we point the finger is that we make it "someone else's fault" and thus, we don't have to analyze why we put ourselves in the situation. There are good MLMs and bad ones, just like there are good companies and bad ones. Whether it's an MLM or a company, when we've "had enough" of a bad one, we leave. Why? Because we're NOT puppets and there's no master puppeteer. If you were a puppet and they pulled the strings, you'd still be in it. I'm not saying any of this to be harsh. My goal is to teach people that what they DO affects what they get. When people can look back at their past mistakes and ask WHY they got into that situation, they learn something that helps them grow. As long as they are "blaming" they aren't doing that. : ) Linda

Linda, ========== I'm not saying any of this to be harsh. My goal is to teach people that what they DO affects what they get. When people can look back at their past mistakes and ask WHY they got into that situation, they learn something that helps them grow. As long as they are "blaming" they aren't doing that. ========== This should be something that their parents have already taught them, in my opinion. Don't you think? Take my 4 year old for instance...she doesn't put her toys back in their bins, momma throws them out. I think as her mother, it's my JOB to send her out into the world knowing that EVERY decision she makes will have an affect. Good, bad or otherwise. ========================================== Recruiters in MLM will basically take anything with two arms, two legs and a heartbeat. Then they subject them to the "system" which crawls all over them like the ebola virus thanks to the master puppeteers in the lofty towers pulling the strings. ========================================== That's to general a statement. I personally want someone who is actually interested in creating something. I don't want someone that I have to guilt or pressure into working. Interested? Great. Not? That's okay too...just don't ask to be part of my business.
