Re: Strange Money #4 : Autosurf
11/19/2005 5:40:06 PM
Well here I go again and I might say well in advance I post this without the eloquence of others that participate along here. I think that based upon what we can read in this, and other forums, that there is a huge potential that we CAN consider these to be pyramids. If it looks like dog poop, and it smells like dog poop, please don't ask me to taste it to confirm it is dog poop, 2 out of 3 aint bad and I can accept that. Now here is where I start to become really confused. I see other forums that talk about how good these programs are, and as has been pointed out once, what difference does it make where the money comes from, now that just blows me away. It makes a difference. So here is the curve ball, when I was discussing the Pay Pal randomizers, the question was raised, "Who reads the terms and conditions?" In the end a large number of people had their Pay Pal accounts saved from the potential of cancellation for not abiding by the terms and conditions. This fact proves that you should read them, no matter where or what you are joining, take for example joining up here at AdLand, does anyone take the time to read the terms and conditions? Did anyone see where it states: 3. Conduct As a user you agree not to post, email, or otherwise make available content which meet the following criteria: illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, pornographic, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, or harms minors in any way; false, deceptive, misleading, deceitful, misinformative. that contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment 4. Content As a user, you understand and agree to the following: All postings, messages, text, files, images, photos, video, sounds, or other materials ("Content") posted on, transmitted through, or linked from the our services, are the sole responsibility of the person from whom such content originated. Okay, I see illegal, I see false, I see deceptive, I see deceitful and in point number 4 I see liability. We also have seen it stated that autosurf programs are known for contaning viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment. Now this is only presented to be informative and is posted as a result of knowing that people admitedly do not take the time to read the terms and conditions. So just like I took the time to point out Pay Pals, I a taking the time to point out some of AdLands. So no hand grenade in there, just the facts as good Ol' Sgt. Friday used to say, "Just the facts". What might even be considerd worse is if there were ever a person in a position of responsability leading others to follow them down a road perhaps best not travelled. Should they not be walking a higher moral ground, and adhere to the terms as they are layed out to the letter? I leave that up to you to decide, and to question, is recomending autosrufs which could be deemed pyramids against the terms as posted here? Temrs that we are all expected to abide by. I am only presenting the facts.

Thanks Arthur... and you're welcome. : )

Hi: I don't always get to reply to each and every post (although I do try) - but I *DO* read them all. This one, I wanted to point out... ======================================== I noted this morning that EstrixSurf is closing down ... I was just invited yesterday to join that program. The person inviting me said they where making a lot of money with it. Last week I would have jumped on it because this person is someone I trust. Since getting involved in this forum I no longer do the auto-surf thing so it turns out that you all saved me some money. ======================================== THANK YOU Arthur, for posting that. And you're welcome. In my years on this planet, I've taken my share of flak for riding an "ethical high horse" - but I've never regreted it. The view up here is GREAT!! lol And, I want to thank everyone that participates here, too. So far, we have saved 106 paypal accounts from shutdown, helped a few people start to grow their businesses, and saved a handful from losing money, too. I can't think of a nicer reward for conversing with people that I enjoy. So thank you to ALL of you that help make my little corner of Adland what it is. : ) Linda

Peter, You touched on an area I noticed as well about the terms and condition for this site. I believed I commented on this earlier. In fact, I can go now to an Advisor Forum on this site and I would get a totally different message than this forum. I posted on the other forum with what I thought was a valid question and I more or less had to agree with the group that it's just gambling like the stock market. Who really cares who's money you get to keep. I just smile :-) , agree and move on. So it's hard to point fingers when it comes to ethical ways of taking other peoples money. It's Business. That's why I prefer to focus on the product. All you need to do is enforce a term and condition not to promote Auto-Surfing programs on AdLandPro because of the risk it has to the overall integrety of the networking system.

Hey Linda, Regarding: ======================= "...I've taken my share of flak for riding an "ethical high horse"... ======================= I can send you one of my flak jackets if you want. I could toss in an old kevlar helmet too. Ah Peter what you wrote made be laugh! It has to be worth repeating: ======================== "If it looks like dog poop, and it smells like dog poop, please don't ask me to taste it to confirm it is dog poop, 2 out of 3 aint bad and I can accept that." ======================== That sure does appeal to my sense of humor. Heh... also - now even you are talkin' about grenades and Sgt Friday. What a theme! It just adds weight to the old song title... "Love is a Battlefield." Gary Simpson

Hey Jack; ======================================= You touched on an area I noticed as well about the terms and condition for this site. I believed I commented on this earlier... So it's hard to point fingers when it comes to ethical ways of taking other peoples money. It's Business. ======================================= You're right - you did mention the terms of this site earlier in one of these threads. As for the "it's business" thing -- best selling author John C. Maxwell has a book called "There's No Such Thing As Business Ethics" He's not saying "anything goes" in business. Just the opposite. He's saying there's no such thing as BUSINESS ethics. There's just ethics. You have them or you don't. He also talks about the five most common causes that get people off track ethically. Anyone read it? : ) Linda
