Hello Amanda, I am happy to see You here!

Thans for your poem, It transfers mood of freedom, carelessness and fresh air
I would allocate expression which can be carried to an excellent saying from this poem:

"Fly fishing is free!"

I would recommend you to try to formulate briefly expressions and to collect author's sayings, I see at you the gift to it.

Love, Lydia

Hey Lydia, I love fishes, used to have a pet one.

Just wanted to let you know I watched that video and it is so very cute.  I am sure my granddaughter would like to see that one.

Thank you,

Sara

Hi Lydia,

You have me thinking and pondering with your response.
Yes the poem was about mood of freedom, carelessness
and fresh air.

Here in the States as well as back in my home country
of New Zealand fishermen or women have to buy a fishing
licence so they can flyfish from rivers.  In Oregon and here
in Nebraska I know you can use live worms and flies to
put on your hook to catch your fish.

In New Zealand you can and also 'spoon lure' (which are different types of fishing metal baits) used when fishing
from the side of a motor boat.  Live worms are not used
nor live flies, they have to be artificial.

New Zealand laws you can keep your trout if it is longer
than 12 inches or one foot, most fishermen/women would
throw back a fish that is less than 18 inches because it
would be considered small by their fishing peers.  (A saying
my parents used - "It would be a shame to take it off its
mother" when referring to something small that should
be bigger.

Trout in New Zealand grow to very big size that you can
enjoy a meal for the whole family.

Lydia, I learned to use proverbs and local sayings in my
everyday language.  My late parents and many 'Kiwi's'
(Kind slang for New Zealanders) use sayings all the time.
Here is a webpage link of our sayings:

Hi Lydia, "Sleeps with the fishes" is a line from a movie, I think. But I don't know which movie it's from! The actor Joe Pesci was called Joey Fishes by his friends while growing up in New Jersey. The last name Pesci tranlates to fishes in Italian. He was friends with Frankie Valli while growing up before they both became famous. That's something I learned while looking up info on Frankie Valli.

Hello Lydia,

I had to go on line to find one, I drew a blank when I was reading your thread....lol..but here is one with the meaning.

Big fish in a small pond  This term is used to refer to an important or highly-ranked person in a
 small group or organization.

"He could get a job with a big company but he enjoys being a big fish
 in a small pond
."

God Bless,
Gaby
