Hi Georgios!

Russian saying about silent waters:

В тихом омуте черти водятся - direct translaation:

In a silent whirlpool there live (dangerous essences)

It corresponds to the English proverb:

Still waters run deep

Hi Lydia,

"Watch out when you are swimming in shark infested waters."

It can mean, you are in something that is likely to get you
into trouble. - You are in over your head (the bottom of the
sea, swimming pool) you are in the very deep end and without
sides or too far away to swim to safety.

Some examples - Problems that you cannot fix yourself.
And someone has to fix it for you, so your could loose it
if it falls into default.

There are other examples that this saying can be used
with..

Amanda

Hi Amanda, thanks for Your example, very interesting

"Watch out when you are swimming in shark infested waters."

My reply to this quote - "Волков бояться - в лес не ходить" - Direct transfer - "If you are afraid of wolves do not go to wood".

It corresponds to an English proverb - "Nothing venture, nothing win".

And another  example replay in Russian proverb - "Кто не рискует, тот не пьёт шампанское" - "Who does not risk, that does not drink champagne"

Waiting next examples, Lydia

Thanks, Sara, very interesting quote!

After Your link I found there many interesing quotes, one of these:

“The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of that which is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope”

Competition proceeds!
