PHILOXENIA: THE LOSS OF USS LIBERTY
2/3/2009 9:08:33 AM
Are there Any Americans missing?

In 1967 Israel launched its third war and seized still more Palestinian (and other Arab) land. Israel also attacked a U.S. Navy ship, the USS Liberty,

'Loss of Liberty' dramatically proves, beyond any doubt, that the attack by Israel on June 8, 1967 against the US naval intelligence gathering ship USS Liberty, in which 34 Americans were killed and 171 wounded, was deliberate. The video first lets Israeli officers make their totally unconvincing case that the attack was a 'tragic accident' when the Israelis mistook the much larger and differently configured USS Liberty for the totally unlike Egyptian ship El Quseir. This filmed testimony by dozens of USS Liberty survivors demolishes Israel’s 'tragic accident' claim. Former Secretary of State Dean Rusk and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Thomas Moorer are representative of the honored high-ranking Americans supporting the condemnation of deliberate aggression against the United States by 'ally' Israel. 'Loss of Liberty' makes clear that then-President Lyndon Johnson conspired with Israel and its Israel-First supporters inside the US government to support the 'tragic accident' scheme. Johnson was bogged down at the time in the Vietnam war, and thought he needed Israel Lobby support. Still, Johnson’s behaviour is as unforgivable now as it was then.

As more and more U.S. citizens across the political spectrum and of all ethnicities become informed on this issue, they are demanding that their elected representatives change current policies. In recent history, the Berlin Wall has fallen, Northern Ireland has achieved peace, and South African apartheid has ended. Change is possible and justice attainable – when people become informed.

“Confusion about the origins of the conflict all too often has obscured Americans’ understanding of its true dimension. It began as a conflict resulting from immigrants struggling to displace the local majority population. All else is derivative from this basic reality.”

– Donald Neff, former Senior Editor, Time Magazine, Fallen Pillars: U.S. Policy towards Palestine and Israel since 1945

“[T]he story of 1948... is the simple but horrific story of the ethnic cleansing of Palestine... Retrieving it from oblivion is incumbent upon us, not just as a greatly overdue act of historiographical reconstruction or professional duty; it is... the very first step we must take if we ever want reconciliation to have a chance, and peace to take root, in the torn lands of Palestine and Israel.”

– Ilan Pappe, Israeli Historian, The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine

“The Palestinian Holocaust is unsurpassed in history. For a country to be occupied, emptied of its people, its physical and cultural landmarks obliterated, its destruction hailed as a miraculous act of God, all done according to a premeditated plan, meticulously executed, internationally supported, and still maintained today...”

– Dr. Salman Abu-Sitta, Palestine Right Of Return, Sacred, Legal, and Possible

Georgios

PEACE DEMONSTATIONS FOR PALESTINE

Picture from the Anti Gaza war demonstration held in Athens, on Monday 29th December 2008, following Sunday's demonstrations in several countries in Europe and the ME. Tension escalated outside the Israeli embassy in Athens near 17:00 between members of Stop the War Coalition and Palestinian organizations with police forces who used chemicals.

The demonstration was organized by the Hellenic-Palestinian Friendship, Muslim Union of Greece, Stop the War Coalition, Palestinian and Arab organizations. A group of protestors lowered the Israeli flag resulting in security forces intervention and the arrest of a 24-year old Palestinian, Ahmet Tsuba Ibrahim.

The GCP staged demonstrations on Monday afternoon in front of the US and Israeli embassies. In her statements, GCP general secretary, Aleka Papariga stressed: "Europe is full of Pontius Pilate, literally full. Don't forget that the European Parliament upgraded its relations with Israel a few days ago. This is the reason why it is high time to take to the streets as it happened during the war against Yiougoslavia. People in Gaza are murdered and its is not only Gaza, they want to wipe out hope for a Palestinian state. Israel is not threatened by Palestine, that's the truth. We object to the Greek government's stand as well as Mr. Papandreou's stand as President of Socialist International. It is time we took to the streets in Athens and nationwide to exercise pressure to stop Israeli raids and open the road for the substantial resolution of Palestinian issue. If it is not resolved, escalation of tension in the ME will get out of control. We are preparing further actions to indicate our solidarity ".

PHILOXENIA: TREATY OF SHAME [BEGIN-SADAT]
2/3/2009 4:37:52 PM
THE TREATY OF SHAME

Sadat's death was greeted with jubilation in Israel

The Egyptian Capitulation of "Camp David Accords" do not brought prosperity to Egypt. With no real improvement in the economy, Sadat became increasingly unpopular. His isolation in the Arab world was matched by his increasing remoteness from the mass of Egyptians. While Sadat's critics in the Arab world remained beyond his reach, increasingly he reacted to criticism at home by expanding censorship and jailing his opponents. In addition, Sadat subjected the Egyptians to a series of referenda on his actions and proposals that he invariably won by more than "99 percent" of the vote. For example, in May 1979 the "Egyptian people" "approved" the Egyptian-Israeli "treaty" (Capitulation) by "99.9 percent"(!!!) of those voting.

One of Sadat's most remarkable acts during this period was the so-called "Law of Shame", which was drafted at Sadat's express instructions. Among the shameful crimes punishable under this law were "broadcasting or publishing gross or scurrilous words or pictures that could offend ... the dignity of the state." Offenders could be barred from public life or from engaging in economic activity or managing their own property; they could be condemned to internal exile or prohibited from leaving the country. The Law of Shame was approved in a referendum by "98.56 percent" of the "electorate". This was remarkable since there was widespread opposition to the law, which was denounced as "an act of shame."

In May 1980, an impressive, nonpartisan body of citizens charged Sadat with superseding his own constitution. Their manifesto declared, "The style in which Egypt is governed today is not based on any specific form of government. While it is not dictatorship, Nazism, or fascism, neither is it democracy or pseudodemocracy."

In September 1981, Sadat ordered the biggest roundup of his opponents since he came to power, at least 1,500 people according to the official figure but more according to unofficial reports. The Muslim Brotherhood bore the brunt of the arrests. The supreme guide of the Brotherhood, Umar Tilmasani, and other religious militants were arrested. Sadat also withdrew his "recognition" of the Coptic pope Shenudah III, banished him to a desert monastery, and arrested several bishops and priests. Also arrested were such prominent figures as journalist Mohamed Heikal, and Wafd leader Fuad Siraj ad Din. Sadat ordered the arrest of several SLP leaders and the closing of Elshaab (The People) newspaper. A referendum on his purge showed nearly "99.5 percent" of the "electorate" approved.

On October 6 1981, while observing a military parade commemorating the eighth anniversary of the October 1973 War, Sadat was assassinated by members of Al Jihad movement, a group of militant islamists. Sadat's assassin was Lieutenant Khalid al Islambuli. Those islamists were arrested and tried. In April 1982, two of them were shot and three hanged.

Whereas a big number of Gewish and Western leaders, including three former United States presidents, attended Sadat's funeral, only one member of the Arab League was represented by a head of state, Sudan. Only two, Oman and Somalia, sent representatives. In Egypt 43 million people went on with the celebration of Id al Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, as if nothing had happened. There were no throngs in the streets, grieving and lamenting, as there were when Nasser died. In the Islamic world, Sadat's death was greeted with jubilation.

AMERICANS WAKE UP
This is how Israel thinks of you.

Ariel Sharon:
"We control America"

"Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that . . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don't worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it."

- Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, October 3, 2001.

"Israel controls the United States Senate."
- Sen. William Fulbrigh
