Hey JIYKA,
What a topic! After reading many of the answers and having a laugh of familiarity, I can only say that there must be a lot of it that goes around this world. LOL!!!
I have to admit that not everyone can do this method of skirting the subject, but some are very good at it indeed.
From my understanding, "beat around the bush" was an old method of hunting. The hunter would send helpers into the bush and they would make noise and beat on the bushes to scare any hunted game towards the hunters. An indirect way of hunting and thus an indirect way of discussion too. LOL!!
My take on "why" someone would "beat around the bush" a.k.a. "skirt the issues" is that, they simply are trying to flush out an answer without asking the question. Make sense?
In hopes that this wasn't a beat around the bush response,
Always buddy hugs,
Joe
