A BILLION THANK YOUS PHIL!
Silly, amazing graphics as a support of WORDS of WORDS! (I hope this makes any sense in English) .
Your point of view teaches me that:
"Someone who talks all around a topic or speaks indirectly about a topic before getting to the point, might be said to have beat around the bush. In other words, if you tell someone not to beat around the bush, you're telling them to be direct and get to the point."
Also, thanks for teaching me about the origin of the phrase. I didn`t know also for the Bushwhacking.
(Peter, I didn`t go to school, but HAVE HAD A LESSON :) ! )
In my native, Serbian (but all South Slovens say the same), instead a "Beating around the bush" we have a phrase that "Someone walks as a cat around a hot food" ....
Phil, thanks for being sure that I would never like to be a politician.
Also, I prefer beating around .... than offending anyone.
Thanks for the recommendation for this book.
It has been translated here, and I am going to buy it this afternoon.
Phil, I am very grateful for all I have today learned from you. And not only today.
AND NOW, HOW TO MAKE THE CONCLUSION?
IF YOU WISH TO BE SURE YOU ARE NOT BEATING AROUND THE BUSH, JUST SPEAK OFF IT. That may not be considered as beating around the bush :) .
ALSO, I TRY TO THINK ABOUT THIS TOPIC FROM FORREST GUMP`S POINT OF VIEW. Hope, Joe will come. He is a specialist for the Forrest Gump`s Point of Veiw :) .... Not specialist for it, better to say, he treasures his simple and great mind solutions.
DEAR PHIL, HAVE AN AMAZING WEEKEND!
Luka
