Thanks Thomas, I think we should make a distinction between playing religion and being the bride that Christ wants us to be- "The Church" without blemish. Putting on a sactimonius, holier-than-thou attitude will only bring us reproach for God resist the proud. Christ in his days did not socialize with the rich and the powerful. He spent most of his time with the lowly, the rejects of society.
Being "The Church" in my opinion is living an exemplary life by the way we deal with others when no one is looking, at home, in business, at work and everywhere. Action speaks louder than words. The church is not the building, the church is you and I!
We can not preach Jesus to a hungry crowd without providing for their physical needs and expect them to follow suit. That will not happen. After Christ preached to the multitude, He feed them. People no longer listen to what we say, they are watching what we do and for good reasons.
