lurk   (lûrk)  Pronunciation Key
intr.v.   lurked, lurk·ing, lurks
  1. To lie in wait, as in ambush.
  2. To move furtively; sneak.
  3. To exist unobserved or unsuspected: danger lurking around every bend.
  4. To read but not contribute to the discussion in a newsgroup, chatroom, or other online forum

So I guess de-lurking is just like hovering on the fringe of a conversation or dear I say eavesdropping.

 HI Kathy

I like De-Lurkers.  DON"T YOU??  It's a good idea to have them around, even if they don't post. Some are very shy but believe it or not, they usually pick up a few things here and there and would rather not get involved. So quit picking on those aliens. lol

Hi Kathy,
It took me about a year in AdlandPro to muster up the courage to join in the discussions. It was very intimidating. Now, of course I'm hooked.
This experience has helped me in crafting my online presence since I was not sure what I wanted to do online when I started.
Events beyond my control kind of pushed me into exploring my love of history in order to be accurate when I speak on subjects whose origin is based on events of the past as they relate to the present.
Now, I am exploring other online communities and I really love the spirited interaction.
Thank you for the topic.
