Hello Kathy,
As I have not navigated through many of the forums here, I'm not seeing any of the negativity that you must be. It has been my experience so far that everyone is friendly and wishing to make contacts to present their opportunity to. Other than a few instances of someone offering a long, unfocused list of opportunities, (which I personally consider spamming), my experience has been quite pleasurable and productive.
However, to make your point, let's see what the dictionary says.
COMMUNITY: The people who reside in one locality and are subject to the same laws, have the same interests, etc
DISSENSION: Angry or violent difference of opinion
A successful and prosperous community cannot support or allow dissension to proliferate. It must be addressed bluntly (as you have done) and eradicated. While there will, by the very nature of it all, be differing opinions, this type of community is not the proper venue to express them.
Hopefully, everyone will be observant and detect when the expression of an opinion has the potential to escalate into outright dissension. Typically that requires input from multiple persons. To avoid that, one should simply not offer their opinion, whether in support or opposition to a stated opinion, and let the issue die from lack of attention.
As responsible adults, we owe that to our fellow citizens.
May Peace Prevail,
Jonathan
