Hi Nan,
I have read testimonies about mangosteen, noni, and goji juices helping many illnesses. I wish I knew whether one is better than another or if they have similar benefits.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Diet

Hi Donna,

I'm sorry to hear you haven't had great results with probiotics.  I guess it works for some and not for other?  I know you've mentioned before that you use some of the cleaners from our company.  Have you tried their probiotic?  I just ask because I have seen first hand wonderful results.

Alana

Hi Tom,
You made a good point about so many of us being mineral deficient. I know a lot of doctors don't believe in nutritional supplements but then they aren't taught much about that subject in medical school. There is a pain management doctor I know who agrees that when she went to medical school they did not study nutrition. She believes in magnetics, nutritional supplements, and other natural health remedies. She came to these conclusions not from medical school but from the personal experiences of some of her patients who improved with natural health methods. She is now associated with a company that sells nutritional products, magnetics, etc. I don't know if I can mention the name of the company here so won't.

Thanks for sharing your story Robert. I am glad you found out you are lactose intolerant. The funny thing is I had lots of milk as a child and it didn't affect me then. After I was in my 20's or 30's I began to have ill-effects from dairy products and found out I am lactose intolerant. The IBS developed since that time, after I no longer consumed a lot of dairy products.
You mentioned poor absorption. I believe this is a problem with me.
I had my gall bladder removed several years ago due to abdominal pain. It turned out that I had adhesions from my gall bladder to my bowel and the surgeon had to remove them. The adhesions had kept my gall bladder from squeezing properly so it was totally ineffective. I only had gall stones the size of sand so they shouldn't have caused a problem.
I also have GERD, acid reflux. I get occasionally tummy aches sometimes after eating, sometimes when I have not eaten. The GERD has been troublesome at night. I now take a proton pump inhibitor. I do not know how safe that is long-term, but the acid reflux can lead to Barretts Esogaphus, which can lead to cancer, so how does one know what is the best course?
Anyway, thanks for your input. I appreciate it.

Hi Alana,
I appreciate the information. It seems that probiotics can be helpful to some people. I know someone with IBS who takes Zelnorm but I have never been prescribed that medication. I was on Lotronex briefly and it actually helped me, but then it was taken off the market due to problems some people were having with it. I need to look at my bottles of probiotics and see if they have the B. infantis mentioned in the article.
