Hi Mary,

What a beautiful garden the Clinton memorial is.

It looks well cared for, well loved and well thought out.

It has an atmosphere that travels thousands of miles.

Long may the kind of thought and action that produced this continue to bring cheer and interest to many.

A real tribute to work and vision.

Roger

"The Rose of Jericho (Latin Anastatica hierochuntica) which
also is named Resurrection Plant is a little Syrian plant
from the family Crossblooms (Latin, Cruciferia).  It is at
most only up to 15 cm high and displays little white blooms.
After the blooms fall the leaves fold up inwards so that
the plant becomes a ball.  In the desert it is often blown
in the wind.  When the plant again falls into some water it
suddenly springs open again and spreads its seeds.  It can
survive a long time in its windblown state and then wake up
as soon as it again receives some dampness.  Then one sees
some lush green leaves again and flowers resembling little
roses, from which it also bears the name Rose of Jericho.

This plant was given the name "resurrection  plant" because what appears to be dead can come allive.

Hello Again Mary, I keep coming back again and again to this forum Gardening is my hot button. Tina's garden sounds exactly like my sister inlaw's garden in the little English village of Fordham in Colchester England., Fordham is the most delightful English village complete with thatched roof cottages.and beautiful ambling English gardens filled with the heavenlu scents of Clematis , Honeysuckle and ofcourse Roses. For me there is nothing more romatic than the rose. Roses are addictive ,once you have discovered their charm and fragance you will want more and I hope they add as much joy and richness to your garden as they have to mine. The perfect end to a perfect gardening day is indeed sitting in the garden at sunset with a glass of wine, admiring your work and listening to the birds. HEAVEN , I'm sure could be no better. I'm not sure whether the nicest people grow roses or growing Roses makes the nicest people. Happy Gardening. Jenny

Jennifer,

I had no idea such things existed as thatched roofs.  How many tourists come to England, check out the Big Ben, shop, see the castles etc. but never see the quaint countryside.

Thank you for sharing.  I think therre are 3 of us reading faithfully and  enjoying tales of the garden.  So do come back often. There are more reading this than we can ever know as the visit number goes up daily.
