Hi Mary :-)

I have just read the whole thread on gardens!

I loved it!

I have many pictures of flowers and beautiful things that I display on my desktop in rotation as my wallpaper.

I will share a few here.

To my gardening friends,

Fences, to keep something or keep something out??

Here is something you will enjoy reading. Swing your mouse, enjoy the reading and then the beautiful flowers.

Hi Mary,

I love to garden and dig in the dirt! If I could I'd have every flower possible, but I have lots of shade. My first inspiration was the movie The Secret Garden, I watched it sooo many times when my daughter was little. So on the side of my house is a private secret garden with an arbor and secluded. I have lots of hostas, this year I put in my sons old bed frame and made a bed of flowers with clematis growning on the headboard. The headboard is an old white iron so it looks great! Having lots of shade I have to battle with slugs eating my flowers, but there is on advantage since it's been so hot I can work in my garden and not having the sun on me.

I live in upstate New York so summer is very short and I try to take it all in at once, the spring time is my busiest getting ready. As soon as April comes I'm in there everyday possible. One nice thing about working from home I have time to reflect, and enjoy it more that others. When we have winter here I'm always looking in my gardening books for the next spring!

Thank you for the invite, I will be coming back often!

Hi Donna,

Welcome to our Garden forum.  I know what you mean about wanting every flower.  That is what public gardens are for, we can go and enjoy many more flowers and plants than we can possibly care for at  home.

I have only 3 hostas and always mean to get more.  They are great shade follage but the bloom is not long lasting.  They are valued for their follage, and durability. That is one plant I like to split and give away.

I know all the readers enjoyed reading about your upper New York State garden.  Our imginations got a little work out there. We have not heard from anyone else with short growing seasons but that is an interesting topic.

See you again soon.
