Dear Lynda, of course I will be happy to be your friend. Now I don't claim to be any expert on e-books or what happens. However it has started out and I ignore nothing that might have some value. I would suggest that you hit 'e-books' on the Google (or whatever) search box and see what happens. What I DO know is that the programmes I mentioned earlier appear to be comprehensive, and that there are methods of getting exposure on different sites. Sometimes you have to supply a free few pages, or you can offer a teaser on a password protected site - so people then have to pay to read more. I am sure that Kenneth knows far more than me in this area - so Ken - chip in with your wisdom! If not take a look at the e-Bay entries -it can be amazing what you discover there. One thing I always have believed in is in 'niche marketing'. The beauty of this isit allows you to focus on a specific area and work it to death. As an example - let's say there are a lot of Hispanics in your area. What do they look for? Spanish interest subjects - maybe books, music, news channels - whatever - can you source and research this to become a product/channel? Boot Fairs, e-Bay - can all help you develop this with little outlay. Obviously you could do this for any race - Polish, German, whatever - find the niche and work it. Anything can be a niche - stamp collecting, old tools, pictures of different subjects etc. What is needed is the effort to try and sell - in person, via classified ads, telephone calls - and a lowly end one of the Internet. I am not sayiong that you will be rich - otherwise I would be as well - BUT, at least there will be some action and enough encouragement to keep going. The Ad-mn idea is NOT mine, but has been promoted by monster.com - and I think it is a brilliant idea. Check out there site as well - lots of info and ideas. Keep the faith! Norm

Hi Lynda, I just want to chime in with my two cents worth about some of the ideas people have been throwing at you. Just trying to pick and sell e-books is NOT a good idea. There is a huge credability issue here and if you do not have the expertise to know what is good and what is just more of the same old same old, then you will not do yourself any justice doing this, plus you could very easily tarnish your name by selling more of the same crap that everyone else does. You seem to have some level of knowledge in ceramics, if what I see on E-Bay is any indication, and you could start joining other craft forums and advertise your E-Bay sales in there. Just keep it as a samml link in your sig file and do not just start blasting the forums with ads. Interaction is the key in most forums and you need to start by gewttijng known as a person that helps others by answering the questions they have. Do what you know and are failiar with and do not attempt to sell things such as e-books that some other unkowing person is trying to sell which could easily contain all the wrong information and be very misleading to anyone that might buy these from you. I know you must seem rushed to try and make some income but you still need to do it right, so take it slow and think out your plan of action. It takes time and there is a learning curve that you have to get past before you can try to sell soemthing that you might not be as well versed in as you need to be. There I said what I needed now listen to Linda and she will be a great help in geting where you need to be. Good luck, Peter G.

Hello Peter, I see that you have finally decided to put up your photo - I had no idea you were so good looking! Lynda, after reading Peter's post, I can't help agreeing that you (and anyone else for that matter) are better off developing something you already know - but through the Internet, than starting off on something completely new and unknown - particularly if you need concrete results. Linda and Norman's suggestions to Arthur follow this line - ebooks or something related to accounting - which is his profession. It makes sense, because that way you promote an expertise that you have. I dont believe that internet business is any different that bricks and mortar business - just a different way of doing it. Peter's suggestion of developing your craft work sounds very practical. If you would like to send me a private message, I will let you have the addresses of a few Craft Sites that I believe work very well in the US. If you can make a Blog or whatever they call it, or an ebay site on your ceramics - you can list that on the craft sites and forums. And of course as you well know a sale of a craft item is real money, not a promise of a comission to be paid when........ That's all for now folks - but as Linda has said to us all many times, there's a lot of hype on the Internet. If you want to make money, you have to have something to sell. Saludos Jennifer

Hello Norm & all, In Art's situation an accounting ebook would be the best at the moment. Start writing on business accounting essentials; how to set up your money flow records, taxation, documentation that is needed, software that can automate or simplify (find an affiliate program so you can earn from the sale of the software) the process, etc ... The ebook doesn't have to be a finished product either. It can be distributed by chapters! as you write a chapter upload it to the server and place a titled link one your download page and then send a notice to your purchasers that a new chapter is ready for download. Write out a map of the finished product to give yourself a writing guide and a sales tool for your website. As for the 'teaser info' you can use a blog for this. You know what to do to track your customers' purchases. ================== As for Lynda, I saw someone say 'Blog'. Here's my expertise for sure. Go to http://www.bizzyblogz.com and get a free account. Name the blog to your niche; crafts or whatever is available. Maybe Creative Crafts by Lynda. Start writing about the things you create and sell. Why you make them. How did you get started. Who has bought from you before. The history of the craft. Don't make it sound like a sales pitch. Write the same way you speak. People like to read real stuff and not sales pitches. Hyperlink words that are relevent to your site and products. ex.: You use the phrase wicker basket in your posting. Hyperlink that phrase to point to the url of the page where you are selling a wicker basket. Do this kind of posting for each item you are selling. And ask for testamonials from people that have bought from you in the past to use on your website and blog. I have a friendly team of people at Bizzy Blogz that will help you get up and running FAST.
