Hi Linda C,
Your forums are always one of my favorite hangouts!

Like the tuning fork, what we attract is affected by what we project.
Like the farmer, we reap what we sow.

This is so true. This is why so many people have unsuccessful lives (as the marshmallow study demonstrated). It's hard for the majority to be patient and wait for the good things in life to come. (This includes all good things - not just the material things.)
To quote one of the most misquoted passages from the Bible, "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." 1Ti 6:10 This can be expanded to apply to all material things that could be bought with money (money, itself, is simply a tool).
Greed, impatience and a self-centred attitude is a recipe for a disastrous, miserable, unfulfilled and generally very negative life. These traits attract all the negative aspects of life.
On the other hand, a generous, patient, loving, peaceful, joyful, and gentle attitude creates (or attracts) a full and fulfilled life even if the material things are in short supply.
"Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife." Prov 17:1
We have tremendous opportunity through our ability to make choices. As you said, we can choose which road to walk.
God bless,
Dave
