Hi Linda C, Your forums are always one of my favorite hangouts! =========================================================== Like the tuning fork, what we attract is affected by what we project. Like the farmer, we reap what we sow. =========================================================== This is so true. This is why so many people have unsuccessful lives (as the marshmallow study demonstrated). It's hard for the majority to be patient and wait for the good things in life to come. (This includes all good things - not just the material things.) To quote one of the most misquoted passages from the Bible, "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." 1Ti 6:10 This can be expanded to apply to all material things that could be bought with money (money, itself, is simply a tool). Greed, impatience and a self-centred attitude is a recipe for a disastrous, miserable, unfulfilled and generally very negative life. These traits attract all the negative aspects of life. On the other hand, a generous, patient, loving, peaceful, joyful, and gentle attitude creates (or attracts) a full and fulfilled life even if the material things are in short supply. "Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife." Prov 17:1 We have tremendous opportunity through our ability to make choices. As you said, we can choose which road to walk. God bless, Dave

Dave, Your penultimate post (2 below) is essentially what I believe. I wanted your view included here as you have greater understanding in matters biblical than I. In your last post you also said: ============= 'To quote one of the most misquoted passages from the Bible, "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." 1Ti 6:10' ============= I'm glad you mentioned that because most people omit the words "The LOVE of" which, of course, changes the entire context of the quote. Hence, their misguided belief that they have to be poor to be virtuous. Money is neither good nor evil. However, it can certainly be used for good or evil. Again, we arrive at the word CHOICE. Thank you for adding clarity to the discussion. (See, Linda, I didn't use that "e" word!) Gary

--------------------------------------------- First of all, to recognize Jesus Christ, one must accept the existance of the devil, as to deny the devil would be to deny the words of Jesus Christ, thereby negating his statement that he is the "way, the truth and the life," thereby denying him. --------------------------------------------- I don't know if that is quite correct. Do not orthodox jews (I hope I have that right) and muslims deny the existence of the Devil in their religion?
