So glad you like them, Roger; all considered, they are more or less my best favorites too and I agree with you on your comments on Fire in Woods. Also, with maybe the exception of the Novodevichy convent (which on the other hand is an exquisite masterpiece as well), they differ from almost all other Savrasov's works.
Here is another work of his intermediate to later activity. Not only is it pretty original - it is one of the strangest paintings in Savrasov's production. And below it is another strange, though in my opinion, more conventional work - this one endowed with a rare beauty.
