I learned a lot too.

This is what art interest is about.

Sure it is, Roger. Since I started this forum I have learned a lot too. In fact, only rarely have I prepared anything in advance so in he end, I can say each thread has rewarded me two times, just like a discovery journey would.

Roger and friends, we have arrived at William Turner's last decade and while the dichotomy between peace and drama
is still present in his work, it is somewhat moderate with the quality still intact. In this post, however, I am showing two highly contrasting paintings although for presentation reasons, I will reverse the order in which they usually occur and will instead show the peaceful one on top.

William Turner - Dawn After the Wreck (watercolour, gouache
and rubbing out on paper, c.1841)

William Turner - Snow Storm: SteamBoat off a Harbour's Mouth Making Signals
in Shallow Water, and Going by the Lead. The Author was in this Storm
on the Night the Ariel Left Harwich
(oil on canvas, c.1842)

Miguel.

This has been a great journey.

I love these last two.

I have always loved the rather scrawny dog. He is no masterpiece but adds so much character to the painting.

The journey is only beginning, Roger. (lol) See the train speeding below? It is one of William Turner's best-known master works, painted in his last decade or pretty close to it, as he died in 1851.

Jokes apart, we are nearing the end of this thread, right, but I still would like to revisit Turner early works'
catalogue and especially make a search of his watercolors, which could provide us with a couple more days' delight.

But here is Turner's most famous train of 1844:
