Hello Lydia,
I just saw your post come up and wanted to come in and
wish you a very warm welcome back and nice to see you again.
I am home with my husband whom is home for the weekend and enjoying each other's company - he works away from home through the week.
I watched your two video's you did yourself and enjoyed seeing the activities of your area.
This second one Drag Rope - which in New Zealand is called 'tug of war' is very popular too and sometimes the game has had the two teams one at each end with a ditch of water in between and the side whom pulls the hardest to win will pull several front people into the water..
The drag rope game you videoed had a many participants for such a cold day to come out was surprising to me, because people will not go out as much on a rainy day..LOL

Hi Lydia,

That was a good video! If we didn't know it was Russia, it could be anywhere, the snow and trees and people look like they could be from USA or anywhere! ...

Hi Evelyn and friends,

I would like to abstain from this debate especially now that you have expressed your wish not to keep taking on with political posts, however, I cannot refrain from mentioning something that came to my mind just after reading your post (yet I promise this is the last time that I will post concerning these matters).

In effect, just before the French Revolution started back in 1879, the most illustrated among the elegant in the country would talk about the increasing risk of it breaking out due to the extreme poverty on the part of the low and disenfranchised at that time. But the richest among the nobility would not take heed. The king himself is quoted saying "After me, the Flood" implying he didn't care if the world ended as long as it happened after he had passed away.

I don't think it will all go to such extremes this time, but there are certain analogies between the situation back then in France and what we can see now occurring on a global scale on the planet. The books of history say that until the French Revolution, it was the Modern Age; after it came to pass, the world had entered the Contemporary Age. And it was the unjust system of one country alone that provoked this transcendental shift of ages.

Now a similar situation, yet far more severe, has been brewing almost world-wide for longer than we care to recount, and we now see ourselves in what I believe is the last stages of a chaotic age where differences are abysmal; where the multi- billionaires on the one hand behave like greedy monsters, and the poor on the other are fed-up with the lack of opportunities even to speak their mind; and this to the extent that their only hope seems to be to more and more draw as much attention as possible toward themselves and their economic predicament.

Now as to their reason for claiming attention. I have recently heard it said that all is a matter of choices and it they had made their choices wisely, they would not be trying now to make the rich part with something they hardly earned or was given. But I say, if only it were a matter of choices there would be no problem at all. Take the case in Great Britain now, where
for lack of state funds the old and poor are being forced to choose between warming up for the winter or eat. Is that fair? And we all know where those funds were - to the great banks and corporations as bail-out money.

How can one say this is a game where the rules are the same for all, that if you know them and play wisely you cannot lose?

My point is, a few people, a mere
one percent of the world population, have taken immensely more than is their share and will keep doing it because they own the power and keep to themselves all opportunities while the poor are totally deprived thereof.

When the rich and the powerful hold the power in their hands they get all the opportunities to make their riches grow to infinite and that is reflected in the charts. Meanwhile, those with no influences or money at hand
to bribe the people in the government will not get the contracts that they are looking for because the number of these contracts is limited and they have already been granted to the powerful. And if they are looking for a much sought job, either in the government or in the private field, they will not get it because it will have already been given to a close friend or a relative of the people in power. The stories that are being published of individuals in the huge, 99 percent segment of the population exemplify this. In other words, they are not granted even the opportunity to earn what, according to some, belongs to others. The problem is, the opportunities themselves seem to always belong to others and this has been occurring more and more and for too long now.

Sincerely,

Miguel

Happy Sunday friends, I sincerely wish each of you a blessed day.
I would like to gather all of you around for some serious chit chat. I am truly saddened by the tone this thread has taken on with all the political posts. That was never my intention when I started this forum. My goal was to have a fun place with a light hearted ambience where everyone could feel at ease and maybe just forget their troubles for a while by engaging in pleasant camaraderie with fellow adlanders.
Things started off that way but have gradually gotten away from my initial goal. There are numerous threads already discussing almost any political subject you can think of and I would greatly appreciate everyone's cooperation in posting your political views in any of those.
Also for those who have forums of those types, or any type forum for that matter, you are more than welcome to post a link to it here and as a matter of fact I welcome those links. By posting links to other forums we are helping to connect more people and that will also give those who want to participate a choice of which ones they want to participate in and maybe make them aware of certain forums they were not aware of before.
I ask each of you for your cooperation and again I thank everyone for their participation in making this thread the success it has become.
Sincerely,
Evelyn

Hi Lydia, ...

This is a news video of the sledding festival, they show more video from last year, after the 3:00 minute mark. People make sleds from boxes, and some of them spray nonstick cooking-spray on the bottom so they go really fast. ...

Hi Mary, and friends....
I have been watching this thread for a while and all though I do not comment on everything, does not mean that it has been unseen. Just nothing to say at the moment, or not concerned with it.
I see that you have taken a step to bring back your original idea with you forum. Not saying what people are talking about is not important or need to be said, just maybe in the right location. So I will just say to all of you that what goes on, and is written, is seen by many even though we are not commenting on it.

When my love and I are setting together in the morning having a cup of coffee,
we talk of what are plan is for that day, projects I am working on, new video's I am working on, how her family is and funny things they maybe doing, and what we should plan on for dinner.
Not covering all, but that is kind of what we might be talking about over a cup of coffee.
When there is no directive, or topic to cover, it can get out of hand pretty easy with out even knowing it is coming until the **** hits the fan. I tried this in another network that worked a little, but there was too much of everyone trying to sell to everyone that came with in reach of them. Each day can be something new like share you funny joke day, or an upcoming movie, or one you have seen, music day, your special desert (give details, I like this one) or anything that you might talk with to your friends.

You can tell that this forum is one hot place to be just by the header.

Hi Mary Evelyn,

I brought the links to a few forums, I like to showcase different versions of the same song sometimes, here's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan, Avril Lavigne, and Axl Rose...and then I also looked at my own forum activity for the past several days to see where I've been besides here and at my own place, some are serious issues, some are getting to know people around us, and some are just funnin' around...for some reason I keep thinking about my belated cousin David's favorite TV show that my Aunt Mary couldn't pronounce....Battlestar what? Galactica? Galashia? hmmm? ;)
