Hi Cheryl,
Yes, I've heard of Dr. Ben Dover, but have you ever met his Sister who is a Nurse, Eileen Dover, or maybe their Cousin, Neil Down.
Seriously though, this fascination with names which I have, began back in school. As you know, back then, when the Teacher called the Rolls, they often listed last names first, so obviously I went through the early years as Black, Phil. That really bothered me, until the eighth grade, when I met a new classmate named Horney, Virgil. As you can imagine, what really confused the Teacher was the young fellow named Marcus Absent. This continued on into High School, when I was in the Band along with Blair A. Horn, who played a Trumpet like I did, and Clara Net, who actually played the Flute.
As you can imagine, having worked for both the Employment Security Commission and the Department of Social Services over the years, I have encountered many unusual names, including Penny Less, Chester Drawers, Windy Day, and the two Justins, Justin Case and Justin Credible. Then there were the Anitas, Anita Rest, Anita Hug, and one of my favorites, Anita Beer, who I simply had to introduce to my friend, Bud Weiser. Then there was also the Hookers, Anita Hooker and Ima Hooker. Finally, on one of our Convention trips to New Orleans, there was the two "Entertainers" in the Gentleman's Club with the improbable names of Candy Barre, and her sweet little Buddy, Candi Barr.
As you can see, there have been quite a number of "Unusual" names in my life over the years. But then again, how boring things would be without the "Unusual" popping up once in awhile.
Have A Wonderful Week,
Phil
