Hi Myrna,

Looks like it's just you and me kid. Thanks for stopping by, and I'm glad that you appreciate the recipes. There's definitely a few of my Friends like you, that I'm really going to miss. How about one last recipe for Old Times sake?

This is really good to make while it's still cold outside, and whenever you want something hot and yummy when you get home from work.

Slow Cooker Corn Chowder

Ingredients

  • 5 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 cups diced ham
  • 3 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) can whole kernel corn, undrained
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cubes chicken bouillon
  • 1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk

Directions

  1. In a slow cooker, place the potatoes, onions, ham, celery, corn, butter or margarine and salt and pepper to taste. Add water to cover and two bouillon cubes.
  2. Cook on low setting for 8 to 9 hours and then stir in the evaporated milk. Cook for 30 more minutes.

Thanks For Having Been My Friend All Of These Years

Have A Great Week,

Phil

Hi LaNell & Friends,

Easter was kind of quiet this year for my Family. Just me, my Sister and two of my Nephews, so I didn't really fix a whole lot of food. Matter of fact, I did the Turkey a little differently.

I was hesitant at first about fixing the Turkey in a slow cooker, however, once I tasted this dish, I was hooked. With a little cornstarch to thicken the juices, the gravy is quite easy to make as well.

Citrus Turkey Roast

Ingredients

  • 3-4 pounds frozen boneless turkey roast, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 8 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1 cup chicken broth, divided
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white wine, or additional chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Directions

  1. Cut roast in half. Combine the garlic powder, paprika, oil, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper; rub over turkey. Place in a 5-qt. slow cooker. Add the garlic, 1/2 cup broth, water, wine or additional broth, orange juice and lemon juice. Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or until a meat thermometer reads 170 degrees F.
  2. Remove turkey and keep warm. Discard garlic cloves. For gravy, combine cornstarch and remaining broth until smooth; stir into cooking juices. Cover and cook on high for 15 minutes or until thickened. Slice turkey; serve with gravy.

Have A Terrific Weekend,

Phil
