Re: Profit Inspirations : Who said this?

Hi Linda, We have a saying in my "day job" of leaving your personal problems at home when you walk through the office door in the morning, and when you walk out of the office door to go home at night to leave your work problems there. But I like the "be a professional" statement better. I didn't know who was quoted either, but I'm definitely going to get his books! Anyone care to recommend which one I start with first? Lorraine

Hi Lorraine: ========================================= I didn't know who was quoted either, but I'm definitely going to get his books! Anyone care to recommend which one I start with first? ========================================= Sure. His best work is probably "7 Strategies for Wealth & Happiness : Power Ideas from America's Foremost Business Philosopher" It's about $10 at Amazon.com, or you can get a "remainder" copy for $6 if you click the "new and used" button. [Note; Remainders are usually selloffs or books that are not quite 100% (ie, folded corner, etc) that end up at bargain bookstores instead of being returned to the publisher for credit. Then the bargain bookstores come list them at Amazon in the "new and used" area.] He also has one called "The Treasury of Quotes" - which is just a collection of his quotations. As a side note, many of the motivational/inspirational guys (and marketing people) now have "programs" online which are priced in the hundreds or thousands. I've never yet seen any that beat their old fashioned $10-$25 books. : ) Linda

Hi Linda and other forumites, Actually, it depends on your preference for learning. Some people HATE books. I know some people who boast that they have never read a book in their whole life. (Er, it shows too!) You, like me, are a bookworm. Lorraine, I remember going to a live Bob Proctor seminar. In fact, I attended two. They beat the heck out of his books! I bought the books as a back-up to the seminars. Jim Rohn doesn't have the franchise on this subject either. Check out Napoleon Hill, Maxwell Maltz, Viktor Frankl and Shad Helmstetter to name just a few. I have 100's of these works (books, manuals, tapes, videos, presentations etc) in my personal library and I learn all sorts of things from all of them. Heh, if you read enough of them you will surprise yourself one day when you "blurt" something out and think: "Heck, where did that come from?" Then you start to think that way and all of a sudden you see and hear other people and begin to wonder why they are so negative. If you have never been to a live seminar or can't attend for whatever reason then try to get a video seminar. I think the courses and programs definitely have a place. But I am biased. I have devoured this stuff for many years and now have a website devoted to it. Education does not end when you leave school. It should be a lifelong process. Sorry Linda - you nudged my HOT button! Hi All, Linda, when I read your post I thought of another quote; "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight." This is probably not what the author was saying but in some ways I see the marketplace as a dog-eat-dog environment and if you wish to compete you better be well armed.

Good one, Jack... lol

Hey Jack; =========================================== Linda, when I read your post I thought of another quote; "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight." =========================================== LOL Well, in a rather strange and Linda-esque fashion, they're kind of the same. Take the lady that I talked about. The one whining about needing money and selling her product for half price. While she's busy devaluing her own products, her competition is *not* losing money on every transaction. By bringing her "need" to the marketplace, she put herself in a position where she brought a knife to a gun fight, yes? Heh... : ) Linda
