========================================== Having said all that, I now deem AdlandPro to be too risky to be involved with, because as a federal employyee, all it takes is public criticism, especially in writing like this, justified or not, and I've got a serious problem... ========================================== Whether to post at a forum is always anyone's choice, of course - but I do assure you that there is nothing about Adland Pro that would be risky for you or for anyone else. Now, if a member - ANY member, not just you - had links to problematic content in their sig file, that could be a different story. But simply participating here? There's no problem at all. I do hope you'll reconsider, because you've posted many very useful posts. The most recent example I can think of is the advice you gave the young lady (Sue) seeking a work at home opp. That kind of contribution is helpful and appreciated. : ) Linda

Greer, Thank you for that explnation of what happens in regards to the disclosure that a Federal employee has to do. You see that part of my post was a question as I did not have enough information at the time of posting to make a comment on it, so I asked the question. I would also think that when someone makes the disclosure, it does not always mean that the people reading it fully understand the internet and all of the programs that people are a part of. I for one, find it a bit disappointing that you choose to avoid answering the other points, it has nothing to do with dignifying a resaponse but for me it could just mean that you are not able to answer the questions such as, where would the money come from? I took the time to post the statutes you made reference to and they stated something different than what you said, so I also pointed that out, you again chose to avoid that issue. These were facts not fiction. I find it somewhat alarming that you make such a stsatement that you would advise other Federal employee's to avoid Adland based upon other people posting opinions. Gary made reference to George Bush and in that light, Mr. Bush faces public opinion daily and a lot of it is negative. If he followed your line of thinking perhaps it would see him resign. People have opinions and people have facts, both are posted in the forum. As Advisors the only power we have is to inform, just like anyone else that should decide to post anything, we have one advantage in that as the forum owner we have a delete key, which you pointed out to me the first time I contacted you in regards to posting in your forum. But anyone that owns a forum has that same power. I really do think that for anyone, Federal employee or otherwise, criticism is a fact of life, and you were not being criticised but autosurfs were. I have found in the past that sometimes people will make a decision to quit something or leave an arena such as this one, and then cite something that makes it seem resonable for why they are doing what they are doing. In this case your decision to leave Adlands and basing it upon the facts that were presented and a question that was raised. Perhaps it would be better to state, make your decisions to involve yourself in a potential ponzi or pyramid wisely and don't post in public forums that you are doing so. So when all is said and done I asked a question and you answerd it but you also avoided everything else such as the money stream, the NC statute and the fact that you might have mis-read it or misunderstood it, or I might have. The tpoic was presented for clarification either yours or mine. Avoiding these issues could make one think they are spot on and by avoiding them you agree with the thread that they might be what people are trying to point out they are. As you said in closing, no hard feelings, for me it is just the facts.

I love that we can discuss, agree, and disagree using logic, opinions, and facts here. In any subject related to advertising, I've found that there is often no concrete right answer. It really just all depends on several factors. What works for some, may not work for everyone. However, on the topic of pyramids and schemes, I think that there is a definative right answer lurking. I love Peter's dog analogy. That's a great tip to live by! LOL. Here is another fascinating fact. Online gambling is illegal in the United States. Yet, on our cable tv, there are constantly ads for online poker. It's legal for other countries to accept money from United States citizens, but it's definately against federal law for a citizen here in the U.S. to portake in online gambling. Is this law enforced? Nope. Do U.S. citizens gamble online? Definately! In fact, online gambling is thriving and continually turning in more revenue from U.S. citizens. Will these people stop gambling online tomorrow? Nope. 60 minutes had a special on this topic last night. I fell asleep before I could watch it, but here's a link to the transcript. Sorry if this is not directly related to the topic. I found it interesting and slightly related. http://urlsnip.com/850896 <-- Link to Transcript Lingo

Hi Peter -- Your post about fed employment took this out of the intellectual realm and placed it square on my personal plate. Since I'm not a political appointee or senior enough in the govt food chain, I am not considered a "public figure" and so the rules about criticizing public figures publically don't apply -- I have the same rights as any private U.S. citizen, plus some work related rules to consider. My change of dispostion on this thread doesn't have to do with what may be right or wrong about the intellectual discussion we had going, or merit of any content, it has to do with public perceptions. Several people posted in support of the "nay" postiion and none "for" therefore -- and no lawyers posted at all, so I judge that public senitment favors your position, and will align myself accordingly to that collective posture. It's that simple, YOU WIN -- there is nothing else to say, either legally or morally -- even a lawyers opinion in favor of some of the things I earlier put forth for consideration would not change my mind about what my personal disposition has to be, both publically and privately. I have already removed all links to paid autosurfs from all my online postings and will begin to delete all accounts that I feel may touch upon the areas discussed in this thread (i.e., 12dailypro). I am not obliged to make further comment, nor will I, except to say this one thing about the ALP comment that I made previously -- I now have the personal opinion that all online forums and commercial relationships have potential risk for asdverse controversy for career status (rank and file) U.S. govt employees, and maybe for anyone holding a day job, for that matter -- i've been feeling uneasy about this for awhile now -- counting myself lucky that I never painted myself, or got painted into a corner on anything controversial my own forums. This thread just cements that feeling. It isn't just ALP -- sorry to have said that exactly the way I did, but I have no edit button to go back and fix it. If i have time before my ALP account is deleted, I'll post a proper goodbye to the community on one of my forums. bye now.

Hello Greer, I really don't think that based upon anything said in this or any forum on line you really need to leave. You have not really been painted into a corner as there is not a legal case I am aware of that would reflect upon your choices. I for one have never in any post pointed the finger at 12daily or any other surfing program, mine is a general comment about autosurfs. While I will agree with you that in this forum the focus has been on the nay, there are others that are the opposite. I choose by what I belive in, to post in the nay section. Which is where we also see you posting. If you go to look at the others you will see I do not post in them, I even have a thread in my forum that refelcts much of what is reflected in here. This forum was just a lot more active so it is where I found myself. I hope that you will reconsider your thoughts about leaving, as everyone benifits from these forums, even if we do not always agree, it presents facts for people so that they can make their own decisions. In regards to "YOU WIN", I think you won if you opt out of these programs. That of course is my own opinion.
