Poetic Love

© Roger Macdivitt

.

.

What is it, that destructive force that humans cling to?

Why does love lost destroy the hope for the future?

So simple, that step towards the light

But how much easier, that way back to the dark

.

When a poet writes it is often to express an emotion

Then up-bubbles all of life’s most painful magma

Spewing forth regret, revenge, loss and sorrow

Memory, like an ash cloud obscures all positive thought

.

As the mind convulses inside of the caulron of despair

Despair itself becomes the comfort state

The “head in hands”, bowed individual, resigned to sadness

Crouches, cowers and gloats on the opporunities lost

.

Stand up that person

Throw back your head

Reach up, hands high into the sky and shout

Shout “I’m worth more than my past pain”

.

Change and action are the key

Not habit and reflux reaction

To live, you must take a breath then sing

Celebrate your individuality

.

Don’t just use fine words but activate too

Born of hope and determination

You have it in you to be great

Find that greatness and show it

.

Forgive, forget and heal

Starting with yourself, make waves

Sweep that tide outwards, like a sunami of love

Expand that love to touch your tormentors and the deserters

.

Never look back with sadness

But, use your experience to protect others

When you project love you will attract love

You will never feel the need to mourn yesterdays challenges

.

Joy is born of joy

Man is born of God

Love and joy are your inheritance

Sorrow is merely a tax upon your happiness

.

We are not all poets

All poets are not great

But poets bear a responsibility

To put into words our possibilities

(In a crude word, there's one fix...do someone else, that's 3 words)

***

In one bright spark
when eyes flash
real peoples' mark
our minds dash

Knowing this now
I saw you
in one world how?
It came true

There's no time frame
now always
faces never same
on new days

Real worlds we change
one step in,
thoughts re-arrange
to begin

Two strong hands hold
daily life
promises told
love and strife

Hold to my heart
all your dreams
Miles apart
Here it seems

Kathleen,

Your poetry is so well constructed.

I know that you understand better than me, the technicality.

I liked this

There's been someone else in my mind and in my reality for a year, I'm not stuck in last year, I quickly "fixed" very quickly and with strength in new friendship and was told not to spend much or any time here at ALP, and so I didn't much, and now allowed myself to become re-immersed, we allow ourselves, because sometimes it's our habit/hobby whatever. I had the good/bad reality of seeing a person, and seeing facial expressions of the result of my high pressure, am I high pressure? ha....and having the sense to maintain strong friendship in the face of real stress.

Kathleen,

It's odd really. I belong to another community where poetry is number one.

Over 70% of poems (mainly from ladies) are about sadness or bitterness from past relationships. Itis so sad that they can't move on in their minds.

Suspicion and revenge are the biggest emotions evident.

That's what fired my last poem here.

Roger
