Our very own hall of mirrors

.

Jewels of the Finest quality lie hidden deep inside of us

Like crystals in a convoluted grey rock

do they lie there awaiting the strike?

The blow of truth's realisation

light bounces, sparkles and refracts

the colours of supressed beauty shine forth

*

Did these colours, these facets, really exist before the strike?

were they an instant production?

were these wonders of creation Magically brought forth?

Perhaps it was the result of it's designers will

colour on demand

*

Oh, to view ones own soul, what colours there?

hidden, even from us but known To our creator

how to reveal this spectra, this prism of light?

does self-belief tint the soul?

i'm sure it does

*

like an artist, reaching for perfection

we can create a work of art worthy of praise

we can allow others to gaze in wonder

sharing our unique bright pixels of love

can't help but share

*

If eyes are the window to the soul

maybe others see more than us?

can we stare into the mirror of our own creation?

a mere glipse of what others see?

a true revelation

*

pure colours combine as white

surely what we should strive for?

maybe that pureness indicates the ultimate

pure, beautiful, unconditional love

filling the universe with energy

lighting the darkest corners of eternity

*

so be it

Quote:

Sara Queen of Kansas

(c) Roger Macdivitt

Coffey County, near Kansas Rivers

Where flowers’ perfume the breeze delivers

Here cattle graze beneath big skies

And hunting hawks on thermals rise

Contrast the garden’s greenest hue

With poppies, sunflowers, cornflowers blue

Tempt summer’s warmth to heat the soil

And Sara’s flowers fill the bowl

Dogs and cats and flowers collude

To stop those things that might intrude

Upon this piece of nature’s making

Beauty here is not for taking

Central time, Oh how apt

For Kansas, landlocked, almost trapped

Not for her the oceans roar

But the plains produce and fill the store

Coffey County, Cedar Hill

Wild rosesround the farmhouse will

State with thorns of sharpest kind

That despite the barbs, beauty defined

Butterflies are welcome friends

But some crops Sara still defends

For some choice leaves are to the liking

Of caterpillar, some small, some striking

Lil Miss, Meagol and Molly dog

Inspire, amuse and memory jog

Their way into the graphic art

And Sara’s warm artistic heart

Photos, friends, nature and words

Flock together like wild birds

Producing things of abject beauty

Which illustrate the Earth’s abundant duty

So here, where winds and sun combine

To toss and bow the columbine

The lilac scents the country air

Inspiring Sara her joy to share

Long may she reign as Kansas queen

Let no-one try to come between

Her wish to please and have her say

In her own, artistic way

Sir Roger, I have just been reading back through your poetry and comments here. It should be in a book, you have written one already!!

I have never been called a Queen - I think Sara is princess in its meaning. I feel honored indeed! Though I am not, I am just simply 'Sara' - proud, humble at times, artistic, poor in physical but rich in all that counts, kind, loving, friendly, quick temper (oops!) - got it from my Daddy, protective of family and friends, and gosh what else?

Thank you for the memories friend and continuing with your beautiful poetry and art.

Hugs,

Sara

(now you have to put up a picture of new grandson and a poem.)

We in Britain are suffering a very cold spell of weather. Heavy snow, sub-zero temperatures and on the way, freezing rain. Lovely.

Early in the year we had deep snow and I wrote this. It's still unfortunately relevant.

.

.

After the snow

(c) R L Macdivitt

.

The shovels are quiet and put away

The salt in the roadbins all gone

And the community spirit of Saturday

Was withdrawn when the thaw came along

.

Where are the children, not out to play?

The road now deserted and clear

While Kerry and Will clear the dishes away

And daddy pulls the tab on a beer

.

It was very good fun while it lasted

Snowmen and sledges and slides

The snow came down, cold winds blasted

But it seems come the warm, love subsides

.

The snow is a source for disruption

The cold and the wet and the chill

But I'd swap the discomfort I mention

For a return of that human goodwill

My London revisited

© R L Macdivitt 2010

The London sky hung leaden grey

It felt as if I’d hardly been away

I had missed this city’s hectic style

I always do when away awhile

.

A vibrant city, well resourced

But it holds the power to exaust

The visiting tourist unprepared

And the visiting driver soon ensnared

.

Although I never call it home

I know each famous tower, spire and dome

Now back again, this time for pleasure

I enjoy it’s sights and parks and trees at leisure

.

London still retains a special charm

It’s districts still reflect both farm

And nursery, village and small towns

The names remain in urban surrounds

.

Governments come and governments go

Summer, sun and winter snow

And voices speaking every tongue

Whispered, called and sometimes sung

.

There’s nowhere like it anywhere

A grubby noisy love affair

Of peace and quiet midst cosmopolitan sounds

With natural sights in city surrounds

.

London calls me then demands

It’s vibrancy attention commands

The city’s surprises never end

New things to find, you can depend

.

I know that life will take me away

Life demands I keep short my stay

But without doubt, that mystic draw

Will bring me back and that’s for sure
