It appears that Kathleen is assuming a hell of a lot.  Little do all the members know that we (the 3 of us) decided well before the end of the year to resign from the POTW team after the POTY contest. The reasons were our own and not a point of discussion in this thread or any where else.

In regard to the present POTW contest. I expressed my opinion in the first POTW thread under the new team. The criteria of the new team is different from what I understood the POTW to be. What is an active member is also based on different criteria. And the bottom line of who is eligible and who isn't was the crux of the problem for me and I decided after reading Kathleen's reply that I won't be participating in the new contest.

When a member like Phil Black and others like him aren't eligible to nominate or eligible for the POTW award cos they haven't got a forum but are active and support many other forums is ridiculous. There are many other active members in the same sitution.

An active forum can be an ad forum with a bunch of ads but nothing really supportive of the community.

But that doesn't really surprise me when you consider that Kathleen wrote that the "community is only a "freckle on the butt of Adland". So as I said activity takes on a different concept when you look at the community in that manner. Here's the exact quote:   I've said this before, this community is a very SMALL part of the entirety of Adlandpro, it's like a freckle on the butt of Adlandpro Free World Classifieds.  You people who LIVE on the freckle think this is the world, well...

When you think of it that way a Phil Black or Mary Evelyn Simpson are only minute freckles and really shouldn't be considered worthy cos they haven't got a forum. But an advertiser that has an active advertising forum is most eligible even though the community doesn't mean very much to him. Quite a difference in what being active in the community means. They aren't even eligible to nominate anyone in the POTW.

I guess Joanne wasn't interested in Kathleen's offer and I really can't see her playing second fiddle to Kathleen who bans someone cos she can.

There are other criteria that can be mentioned here but it's really not so important to bring them up. The participants are happy and that's what's important. The number of participants isn't.

Now could we all work together even if there are differences among us?  Jim made his points and some legitimate ones.  Kathleen stopped it when the insulting started - which she promised to do when she took the POTW.

Why then is Patricia still posting?  I only answered her initial insulting remark.

I see brave folks showing up with an opinion and mentioning names of folks incapable of responding in the very thread.

Perhaps Sara, you should read Kathleen's response when asked as to why she banned.  She stated no reason other than she could! 

Sara, I try to understand that you are a fragile person and are easily damaged, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out why you, seem to almost always choose to comment before checking all your facts.  Thus causing your own situation.  We have discussed this before.  Like my doctor says:  "If it hurts when you do that,  Don't Do IT!"

Now that is out of the way.  I wish to thank Amanda, for her posts here.  I see she, sees through the fog too.

Roger, should you take on this task.  Doing away with the many years worth of photos submitted to the Photo of the Week forum, seems such a waste and not really an option.

Here is mine, the Photo of the Week should remain a community project. 

I would suggest that you ask Bogdan to separate the two POTWs, since current admin chooses not to support it, and provide the same tools he provided to the POTW Awards Team.

Some Explanation:

The reason we formed the POTW Awards Team we realized the enormity of the task and the need for a team.  We also realized that in the future it would be ran by new POTW Awards Team. 

We never saw the POTWs as our personal ad space.  we saw it as a community project that we were asked to oversee for a while and were honored to be asked to be caretakers.

Unfortunately, that concept was lost on most and especially the new POTW Admin.

To answer two points.

I will only consider taking this on as separate to POTW.

I would recommend that all accepted photos to-date that were non-winners will still be eligible for re-submission and that the present forum content remains intact for perpetuity.

I am looking for a whole new approach that will rule out most of the past problems.

I aim to put the revised rules to everyone and to Bogdan.

Hello Roger,

What ever you decide the Photo of the Week contest should be a separate entity at this stage of the game.

The PersonOTW team isn't interested and there is no logical reason for them to be involved.

Whether you decide to go the private route or a Adland linked contest is your decision and you'll have my support in either case.

It seems that you have all around support and no detractors and I'm looking forward to the revival of this fun contest.
