CHIILDREN’S   VERSES

ELIJAH  vs.  JEZEBEL

By  Dean  Beaty  2/26/08

When last we saw Elijah, a vict’ry he had won.

But Jezebel had threatened him and he was on the run.

Since he had won the contest, the question was now, “Why?”

He sat beneath a juniper and wished that he could die.

He fell asleep, but God could see that he was in despair.

So God dispatched an angel quick to feed Elijah there.

So strengthened by the angel’s food he traveled forty days.

But his complaint you won’t believe.  Just let me paraphrase.

“There’s no one left to fight for God, I’m all alone you see.”

But God told him, “Don’t gripe and moan, I’ll win the victory.”

“I’ve thousands more to stand for me who have not bowed to Baal.”

“Get up, be strong, Elisha comes, with him I shall prevail.”

Sometimes God’s man gets wearisome, contending in the fight.

But we can rest assured God has no limit to His might.

Remember what young David said when faced by giant’s sword.

Whether we are tired or fresh, “The battle is the Lord’s!”

CHILDREN’S  VERSES

BALAAM

By  Dean  Beaty  2/25/08

Ole Balaam was a foolish man who had a double  mind.

When God said, “Do not curse my own.”  A way he tried to find.

He first said, “No” and then said, “Yes.”  He was a real mess.

What happened next is very weird.  But true I must confess.

While on his way his donkey stopped, began to kick and balk.

When Balaam used his whip on him, his beast began to talk.

Then just as though it was not odd to hear his donkey plain,

He spoke to it like you to me.  He must have been insane.

The reason why the donkey spoke was what he saw ahead.

If he would take another step, the prophet would be dead.

For in his way an angel stood with sword prepared to kill

Cause Balaam chose to disobey and go against God’s will.

If God can make a wild beast talk to warn him of his plight

Then we can trust His written word to teach us wrong from right.

The Bible says that we should read and learn His word each day,

And keep it hidden in our hearts to guide us all the way.

Children’s Verses

This is a first poem from the New Testament when Jesus was on the earth.

The Little Lad’s Lunch

By  Dean  Beaty  2/25/08

He only had just two small fish and five loaves in his lunch.

But how would they begin to feed this ravished hungry bunch.

Just as he gave them to the Lord a miracle took place,

Christ gave them food, yet more appeared as though from empty space.

There were five thousand in that place, yet everyone did eat.

I wonder what the Lord could do with our own bread and meat.

It seems so small to offer Him.  It’s hardly worth the while.

But any gift you give to God, for sure He won’t revile.

The gifts you have may seem so small.  Your talents seem so few.

But when you give them to the Lord He’ll multiply them too.

And as the lunch the boy gave, blessed thousand on that day,

Like wind born seed your gifts will spread both near and far away.

Children’s Verses

Another New Testament Incident.

 The Woman Taken In Sin

By Dean Beaty  2/25/08

They brought a woman to the Lord who they had caught in sin.

They wanted her condemned by Christ, for they were righteous men.

But Jesus knelt down in the dust and He began to write

The Lord then asked “Which one of you is void of sin’s dread plight?”

We do not know what Jesus wrote upon that dusty sod,

But this is sure that everyone left as condemned by God.

And there she sat before the Lord, what now would be the score?

With tenderness He said these words, “Go and sin no more.”

This is the plight of every man, God could condemn our soul.

But Jesus came to save the lost, forgive and make us whole.

That’s why He died upon the cross and shed His precious blood.

Will you trust Him, and be washed clean, beneath that crimson flood?

R H O D A  Acts 12

By Rev. Dean Beaty  4/1/08

Peter was in prison, bound with chains to a big guard.

An angel came to let him out, so the chains he did discard.

At that very moment there was prayer for his release.

God’s answer to their asking surely did their faith increase.

When Peter reached their house and knocked upon the door.

Rhoda went to answer it as she had done before.

When she saw him standing there, she ran to tell the group.

Excited by this miracle, she left Peter on the stoop.

The people said “You’re mad,  it’s his angel that you saw.”

We know that he can’t be outside, he’s imprisoned by the law.”

Here’s a vital question.  Was faith behind their prayers?

Or did God send him an angel, just to show how much He cares?

Sometimes we pray like they did, somewhat short on our belief.

But God in love still answers and comes to our relief.

Prayer is still important even when our faith is small.

Cast your cares upon Him.  He will listen when you call.
