Children’s Verses

SAMUEL

                                 By Dean Beaty   2/23/08

When Samuel was a little lad,

The Lord spoke to him in the night.

I have a job for you to do,

To help make my people do right.

The task was hard but Samuel obeyed.

He told Eli just what God said.

His sons had sinned against the Lord.

Before long they both would be dead.

God had found a servant true,

And God bless the lad as he grew.

And you can be the same as he,

To do all God calls you to do.

CHILDREN’S  VERSES

M O S E S

By  Dean  Beaty  2/23/08

Do you quiver and quake,

When you see a big snake?

No doubt Moses felt the same way.

But God’s voice from the fire,

Was like a great choir.

What God said he would have to obey.

In obedience to God,

Snakes change to a rod.

He was ready to do the Lord’s will.

Though God’s people were slaves,

There would be no more graves,

On the side of an Egyptian hill.

So he led Israel out,

With a song and a shout.

But it looked like they all would now drown.

Then God sent a great breeze.

And it parted the seas.

And they all walked across on dry ground.

So when ever you face

An impossible race.

Where you fear you will stumble and fail.

Just do not look back

But stay on the track.

With God’s help you will surely prevail.

            CHILDREN’S  VERSES

                       SAMSON

                       By  Dean  Beaty  2/22/08

Oh Samson looked like other men, except his hair was long.

It was a sign of Samson’s vow, and God would make him strong.

But Samson had a weakness that muscles could not win.

He couldn’t say no to women, for that takes discipline.

Delilah whined and begged him so, and finally he gave in.

“Just cut my hair and I will be as weak as any men.”

So as he slept on upon her lap, she shaved his hair off clean.

They bound his hands, poked out his eyes.  This was an awful scene.

And as a slave, he ground their grain, and they looked on in glee.

They robbed him of his place with God and of his liberty.

But then his hair began to grow.  His strength had come anew.

And he would fight the fight again and God would see him through.

His captures made a feast one day.  They gathered by the hoards.

They thought that he was not a threat.  His hands were bound with cords.

He asked a lad to guide his hands and placed them on the post.

He prayed to God, “Avenge my eyes.”  This day he killed the most.

This enemy had robbed and plagued the children of the Lord.

But now their reign of terror was through.  They got their just reward.

Though Samson had a weakness, God used this humbled man.

And He’ll use you, if you will bow to God and His great plan.

NEBUCHADNEZZAR   Daniel 4:29-37

By  Dean  Beaty   2/24/08

Once was a king, Nebuchadnezzar by name.

He loved to boast of all of his fame.

But God had warned, “Don’t brag on your self.”

“Humble your pride or be put on the shelf.”

One day he looked upon his great land.

“See what I’ve done.  Isn’t it grand?”

And God saw his heart all swelled up with pride.

This is a sin God cannot abide.

Then came a weird, most strange paradox.

God made him eat green grass like an ox.

For seven long years he lived in this way.

Until his sense came to him one day.

He learned to not strut in his stride.

Never again would he speak with pride.

Pride was the first sin ever revealed.

And it’s the last in us to be healed.

Children’s Verses

David and Goliath

By Dean Beaty  2/22/08

David was the youngest son of Jessie’s stalwart clan.

But they had left to join with Saul to fight a giant man.

Only David was left at home to watch his father’s sheep.

What happened next on this sad day’s enough to make you weep.

All Saul’s army shook in fear the enemy was great.

He called them out to fight with him but no one took the bait.

Then David came to bring some food and saw what gave him pause.

Despite their fear and trusting God said, “Is there not a cause?”

So with five stones within his bag he faced the man alone.

But he would win the fight that day, for God was on the throne.

And though he took five stones along, he dared to stand his ground.

He only used one out of five to bring the giant down.

So when you face a mighty foe, your Father fights for you.

For God is there to help you give the enemy his due.

Do not fear though they may come with armor and with swords,

He showed no fear for this he knew, “The Battle is the Lord’s!”
