Hi Steve,

If you have any favorite foods that your wife or mother-in-law make, we would love to have you share them!

Hi Donna and Recipe collecting friends,

I like to bake my own biscuits, there are too many preservatives and chemicals in the shop bought ones. Here's an old favourite.\

QUICK AND EASY SLICE  -

Mix together 1 cup each of -

coconut

chopped dates

raw sugar

sultanas

wholemeal SR flour

Melt 4 oz margarine and mix in to dry ingredients.

Add 1 beaten egg

Press into greased Swiss roll tray

Bake 20 minutes at 180c or until golden brown. Cut when warm/cool.

Happy baking.

from Lee

Thank you Lee. I love biscuits but rarely buy them. Your recipe sounds easy and much healthier. Plus, I love the fact you don't have to knead the dough. I do not like kneading! My dough always gets too sticky and I have it all over my hands, making a real mess. It is not my strong point in baking, lol.

I am anxious to try your recipe. I do not have a swiss roll tray but I imagine I could make them on a cookie sheet. I have not seen any swiss roll trays in my area of the country.

Hi Donna,

I'm like that with pastry, I get in mess with that too.

I have a double choc chip recipe that requires rolling into balls and flattening slightly on to a tray (or cookie sheet) but I guess you might not like that one. I get it all over my hands and up to my elbows sometimes.

As to the cookie sheet - it might do but you really need a biscuit tray with sides. However I would be interested to see how you go with the cookie sheet.

Don't you have swiss rolls in USA? They must be an Aussie speciality. I have difficulty translating some American ingredients into items on our shelfs. i.e. what weight is a stick of butter? Ours comes in tubs or packets - usually 1/2 lb.

Nice sharing with you,

Lee
