Re: On Buddhism and Christianity

Hi Beth,

I'm not sure of Lee Strobel's personal timeline. While working at a major newspaper in Chicago he classified himself as an atheist and set out to debunk Christianity, i.e. followers of Jesus [because that was the real problem in his eyes]. We all know the mere mention of Jesus as the true God causes spasms in many that choose, by their own volition, to follow someone other than Jesus. At the end of Lee Strobel's search he used all his interviews and the evidence he had gathered to come to a conclusion, much the same way a jury works.

Now, it's fine to quote others who claim to be god as well as those who follow these other gods but when defense of Jesus and His teachings are thrown into the mix it's seen as imposing one's opinion or viewpoint on another. Debate & discussion are great because we live in an arena of words and ideas. We do not live in a vaccum, BUT only one of the different viewpoints will be proven right and that will be when we all stand before our [the] true God & Creator. Everyone will make a choice before he/she departs this world. My choice is Jesus and I hope that everyone will choose Him just as those that follow another would want folks to follow or believe as they do.

Remember, making no choice/decision is actually a choice.

On another topic... I am giving away free websites. These sites have 2 options/choices. One is to be a user and the other is to offer the sites to others and build a business. There are no registering fees and as-a-matter-of-fact there are absolutely no fees or hidden charges at all. The holiday season is coming up and I am planning on doing the majority of my holiday shopping online. With My Power Mall I now have the ability to receive a rebate on everything I purchase and the prices, even at he major retailers, are proving to be fantastic. I'm looking for people to join with me as this is truly a tremendous service and long-term opportunity

Hi,

The issue with the Gnostic gospels is that they were written some 400 or so years [give or take] after Christ's crucifiction while the gospels in the Bible were all written in a very timely manner after the event. We know how a story grows and changes over time and the longer the time frame from the actual event(s) the greater the potential for inaccuracy.

Gnostic/Gnosticism stems from gnoses which means - Intuitive knowledge of spiritual truths

Now, I am not a scholar nor theologian. What I have written is what other much more learned people than I have stated, so please, use foams bats LOL

Grace & Peace to all this day ~ Doug

Beth-you gave me a chill!
I didn't know he that-but I came to the very same conclusion myself in my personal search in 1987!
I still kinda sorta call myself a Buddhist-if limited to checkoff boxes-but the principles have shaped the way I think and do things.
Jesus is still my main guy-mind you-Buddhism gives a clearer way to understand putting principle into practice-the outcome is:
Fun, Fun, Fun
If you read my stuff I think you can almost see the process working.
Thanks for bring this quote-
oh yeah-Albert and I share the same hair style-I rarely comb mine either:)

Hey Pauline
I'm going through the pages backways-your post hits on my peeviest pet peeve-words don't communicate anymore!

You know about what I'm dealing with more or less down here; and the mis-communication that is going on based on peoples reactions and understanding of words is a very dangerous occurence.

I even did a chart to translate what certain words and phrases meant to a black person as opposed to what a white person thought the same phrase meant.
I walk in both worlds down here and they are deeply divided.

I've had it happen in one-on-one conversations when I would use a word that meant one thing; to me and something completly different to the listener.
Fortunately, I was watching his face and could quickly diffuse the situation.

Try talking across generations and you get blank stares as you try to make a point with a word or phrase that worked very well when your mom used it on you!
We have to, (in my opinion, of course) get better at listening to the heart and the spirit of the speaker, then fit the words to that;-working from the words to get the intent is a disaster!

Re: OK, Let's call A Truce!

Att: Doug Dawes Greetings Doug, Last week some friends and I watched a movie re-run on A&E, maybe you've seen it before-> It was "Tomb-Raider, Cradle of Life" starring Angelina Jolie, one of my favorite actresses. In that film they were after a gold orb which would lead them to the infamous 'Pandora's Box'. At the time of watching the movie, I didn't dream that my own search for truth, conversation and commeraderie would open up another can of worms, let alone not here. So, to preserve the peace here with you and all of my other friends here, I would first like to apologize to you for being so arrogant in my response to your posting. I had no right to do that, even if we do disagree on the finer points of Spirituality. In other words, let's call a truce here, ok?! I would like to come into this room knowing that I don't have an enemy waiting to cut my throat, or feed me to wolves. Instead, we need to build each other up, and support each other in our quest for a grander life than that which has been bestowed upon us by our individual environments. Therefore, I am sending out a peace offering to you and all who read this post. To everyone who reads this post, I would also like to extend an open and FREE invitation to goto: http://www.IpowerNetworK.TV and signup for a free account. IpowerNetworK.TV is an online TV-channel for marketers both online AND offline. If you are a SOHO or a home-based business, then go here and upload your videos & podcasts, post on my blog, start your own blog and even get your own channel if you want. That will cost you $24.95 from ChannelMW.TV, but I have MY OWN channel to which I am inviting you and everyone. So tell all of your friends, relatives, associates, your downlines, customers, clients, and ALL of THEIR FRIENDS. As I said before Doug, I am truly sorry for the grief and aggravation I caused you and the forum. I hope this in some way makes up for it. This is the biggest project I have EVER undertaken, and I plan to have a lot of fun with it. I hope you all have fun with it too. So, until the next one, I shall remain, Benton Middleton, @ The IpowerNetworK
