Hi Marilyn,
Taking advantage on the opportunities, that makes you a good manager of your success!
Sometimes opportunities come and show up without knoking on the door and introducing itself: "Hi I'm your Great Opportunity! Do you want to take advantage on me?"
I think that I'll remember the rest of my life the one and so far the only wrong choice I made! (I mean major ones, not some daily whatever!) Somewhere back in in '92 or 93 when Coca Cola was preparing their entry into our contry, after a careful selection they have chosen me to be in their management team as marketing-comunication something responsable (not sure now about that as at that point I wasn't interested in), going to be trained in Ireland. As than I was very pleased with my research work as a chemical engineer and knowing nothing about comunication and less marketing, I refused that saying to myself: I'm a chemist, what do I know about marketing ... I want to continue with my research as this is what I learned.
How silly of me; I should have had the opportunity to change career the easy way and learn with one of the best, and I kiked it. I would have never thought that soon there will be no need of our work and chemistry. And look at me, where I'm in the end: in management - marketing - communication, and I had to learn all that on my own expence in my spear time, along with my other dieing job. But that was the harder way, and I was lucky to have it.
Learning to recognise opportunities, even they do not look like ones, in your oppinion, is very important for reaching success sooner than later.
All my best regards,
Anamaria
