Re: Hey, Easy on the hillbilly Jokes...

Hey Sarah, Easy on the hillbilly jokes there, ok(LOL). You know you got a Kaintuck in here too. And your description of hillbilly just about describes several thousand east Kentuckians. I know, I've been down there and seen 'em. Glad you left out the in-bred part. They're tryin to overcome that part of it back in the hills. Must get mighty lonely back in the holler. NO seriously, I actually enjoy that kind of humour because even though I was born here, I was raised as a Floridiot, in Panama City, Florida. So, I do have SOME etiquette about me. Though I still live on the edge sometimes. Keep it coming and keep it cool. Your Friend, Benster!

Benton,

Watch it there boy! We still practice feudin' back home. LOL I resemble that remark !!!! LOL Actually my pedigree does go back to Appalachia Pennsylvania and Eastern West Virginia, the origins of the "Hillbilly". So I can use the term legitimately and I'm PROUD of my heritage. Call me a "Hillbilly" all youins want. I takes it asin a compleement. LOL Anyone here ever had "leather beans" and "fat back" a staple of my folks in tha winter? How about "smoked jowls" and "greens" - a much sought delicacy of spring along with a big ole' steamin' tin (my people couldn't afford cups) of "chicory coffee" that we "saucered and blowed". LARAPIN MAN I'M TELLIN YA!!

Judy,

One of my oldest and dearest friends. I kept warnin' ya about leavin' tha gate open. Ya never no what's liable to get in! LOL No - contrary to popular belief (or hope) I didn't die! LOL Now ya didn't think I'd go and let yer link go bad did ya? I only wish I could get more traffic fer ya. Ifin' it's any consolation, I also put yer link on our Holidays website.

And fer anyone else readin' this jiberish, I'll do tha same fer youins as long as yer site has anythin' ta do with gardenin', outdoor livin' or holiday stuff. I'll be happy ta help all I can. Just let me know so's I kin give ya the link ta my banners. Shucks, it's the least I kin do fer my friends here and I might need a favor myself one day.

Well, ladies & gents,

I went off to bed in real need of some sleep and battery recharging. I've woken up to find that people have been having a good time in the garden.

How lovely.  Laughter is a great medicine.

Now then Mr Hillbilly, I believe you were hinting that you wanted to know where I got the pic from. It was photobucket.com.

I've noticed that you prefer "Jerry" so from now on I'll either address you as Mr Hillbilly (which I think is rather sweet) or Jerry.

Thank you for your offer of help and if you'd like to fulfill your duty, I have a question or two or three........

My main prob is that the soil in my garden is very heavy clay soil.  The sun dries it so that it is rock hard and when it rains, the water stays on top for a long time before soaking down or evaporating with the sun's heat (South of France).  Many of the trees and shrubs that  we've planted have died.  Even well established ones have died and many trees that should be huge by now are dwarves in comparison to  trees planted at the same time elsewhere.

Any tips on what trees will survive here (and what vegies to grow)?  Voila.

I find it very upsetting when plants die, especially ones that I've nurtured from seed.

That's on a serious note and now for some laughter med.  Is this Jerry & Benton?

LOL

What do you think chaps?

Angel cuddles,

Sarah
