uvme associate fred (uk) is having great success with his "pocket pitch" cards. By simply taking some with him on his daily errands, he has had a 3 in 8 return on his efforts!
Whenever he is going out anywhere, Fred writes his personal uVme URL and phone number on a handful of pocket pitches to take with him. He chats to a few people while waiting in the queue, etc., and in the natural flow of conversation asks them if they would be interested in checking out a new business on the Internet, giving them a pocket pitch to look at if they say yes.
On one night's trip to the shops, he gave out 8 pocket pitches in total, and by the time he had returned home 20 minutes later, 3 of those 8 people had already pre-registered to be on his team!
WOW, so it's really that simple? All I have to do is buy a load of pocket pitches, and pass them out to everyone I see?
Well, no...
Fred has got a particular method that he is sharing with his team, and he is extremely picky in deciding who to give the pitches to ... sometimes he goes out and doesn't give any away at all.
So how does he do it?
His top tip is to be as SELECTIVE as you possibly can in who you talk to, and only offer the pitch to those who seem like genuinely good candidates for the business, rather than just handing out the pitches willy-nilly:
"It's absolutely pointless giving car keys to people that can't drive."
Fred has been sharing his "FORM" approach to engaging receptive people in conversation: start out asking people about their Family, move on to what they do for a living (Occupation), then ask what they do with their free time (Recreation) ...
...and finally, bring the conversation round to Money. For instance, if they had mentioned sailing when you asked what they like to do, you could say, "Wow, you must be loaded!" If they reply, "Well, no, actually I don't get to do it very often," it brings you nicely round to mentioning uVme.
Here is where the pocket pitch steps in, to do the hard work for you...
Fred doesn't go into detail about uVme; he just mentions he's involved in a new online gaming business and asks if they'd like to check it out. If the answer is yes, he gives them the pocket pitch, telling them to give him a ring if they need any help or have any questions.
If you've got a success story or tips like Fred's that you would like to share, send them to us at marketing@vwdmail.com
