Hello David,

Like Mary and others I at first said NO WAY! The nerve. Then saw it was from you and then I came in the thread to see your reason of need and willing if needed.

Ok, after reading all of it here I had to return to John Carey's post and I wish to answer this.

Quote: "

About spam, safe lists (agreed to spam ) and the rest, I don't see where anyone here inside ALP can offer a vaild complaint over these messasges.

Let me explain that comment.

For the most part, this is a business community. One needs to consider this when signing on and becoming a member. They should also realize that since this is a business community, many here will reach out to them for many reasons and to promote their business; it is the nature of the beast, so to speak."

You said the keywords 'becoming a member'. That means you were to have read and agreed to the Terms of Service, not join and then make up the rules as you go. Bad behavior, such as Spam, is getting way out of hand. If a brick and mortar didn't follow certain business codes within their city or town they would be shut down in a heartbeat.

Since the internet is not governed in the same way it is our responsibility to stand up with a certain code of ethics and to help educate and enforce good business practice.

When someone wants to start a brick and mortar and they go to SBA for a business loan guarantee they are required to take certain training before they are awarded with a guarantee. And some loan offices enforce this as well to SBA guidelines.

So why should an internet business be any different? It's not.

Now, that is the nature of the beast, so to speak.

Hi Norm,

Apparantly, someone or more than one have reported your domain as sending out unsolicited emails. This can even be from a person that shares the domain name or is a sub-account.

Here's a link that mey help you understand and clear it up.

http://spamcop.net/bl.shtml

There are others as well. Search term I used to find them is [ site blacklisted for Spam ].

Hope this helps.

I forgot to add.

It could be someone also sharing the same hosting service, not necessarily from you.

Blockalert - Provides reports on whether there is recent spam activity within each IP block, especially spamvertised web site addresses. Check if you are sharing your address block with spammers.

And from DMOZ you can find a whole bunch more.

Good luck.

Good morning Dave!

Excellect post, my friend. Spamming is bad all over, but spamming in forums is something I just cannot tolerate. It drives me nuts; especially when forum members send their spam to my inbox.

It is so bad, that a while back, I added a line to my profile page here, saying: I am not looking for a business opportunity. Do not send your ads to me... Well, I got a message from a member, who actually read my profile, giving me a hard time for that statement. I view it as being honest. If I wanted to spend my day opening junk mail, everyone else's ads, I would write something like: Send me your classifieds, your solos and your pitches...

It is so unprofessional to join a community, having nothing to contribute but spam. When will people understand that communities such as this, are for the purpose of meeting people and sharing ideas, not throwing ads in others' faces? Communities like this one are for building relationships. Why on Earth would I want to work with someone who respects me so little that instead of getting to know me, all they see me as is someone to recruit, especially when I have made it clear in my profile, that I do not want to be recruited.

I have a successful business of my own, and have come here to help others build their businesses; not through the recruitment of me, but through providing a service and knowledge to help them succeed. I am a professional. I want to work with professionals, or at the very least, help newbies become more professional. IMHO most people online today, are not professional. They act like children at show-and-tell time.

"Hi, my name is... Here's my ad. Let's be friends."

I'm sorry, but WHO ARE YOU? I want to know who you are, not what business you are trying to get me to join.

I must say this, even if it makes me unpopular... The day that Bogdan instituted the direct mailer was the day my inbox began to over flow with spam. In case no one has noticed, I didn't sign up to Adlander. Why? Because the main feature being touted to the membership was the direct mailer. Why would I sign up to something that was designed, intentionally or not, to spam members, when I am against such activity? It appears that most people view the direct mailer as a license to spam.

I also find it very sad that in the forums, which I have created in the past, to help others develop better writing and marketing skills, few people bothered to visit, once they found out that I did not tolerate ads in them. I attempted to educate these folks, so that they didn't look like third grade drop outs, due to their poor writing skills, but they weren't interested in learning anything from me. All they seemed to want was to advertise to me and those who read my forum. So sad. I guess I'll just have to take my knowledge, write an ebook, and sell it.

Get a clue people! You turn more people off by slamming them with ads, than you will ever recruit through this method. There is a reason I don't spam. It is unprofessional, and wrong.

Well, Dave, that's my two cents. Thank you for this forum and for allowing me my rant.

God Bless,

Trina

Hi Kenneth,

many thanks for the information, I will check this through and see what I can do about it.  It would seem that someone can do this mischievously - would that be correct?

Cheers,

Norm
