Re: Why's Everyone Whining about Spam?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the information.

I am going to go back and take a GOOD look at this.

I am one of those folks who has had the same mobile and landline number for years and the same with my MAIN email address. I hate telling folks that I have a new address. I need to check if I need to change my main address.

I am one of those who complains all the time about spam but I REFUSE to set up filters because I HATE to miss a mail that I want. Every day I plough through Viagra and Nigerian scams, property and stockexchange rubbish just to get MY MAIL.

I know I'm sad but can't bear to miss good mail.

This looks really good. I'll take another look.

Roger

Hi, Dave,

I do complain about spam but my complaint is usually about how boring, repetitive, unimaginative and predictable it is.

This sort of spam is easily spotted and just as easily deleted.

But there is good spam too!

Shock? Horror?

No. Not at all.

There are a few things which I have bought or benefited from because I got spammed - Adland being one of them!!!!

Give me good spam.

Give me interesting spam.

Give me something I don't know about.

My children, when faced with a food they did not recognise would say "I don't like that - what is it?" - isn't refusing all spam demonstrating the same sort of attitude?

Blast! Another Old Coot moment.

Dave

Great Tip - Thanks!

Yet I agree somewhat with Auther - I'ld rather hit the delete button than throw out a pound of paper every day....

To me - the best feature is the fact that you can set it up to be guaranteed the email you WANT gets to your in box. I've had at least 500 emails I sent to customers over the last 3 months NOT get there - Yahoo and Hotmail are the worst - emails cusomers are waiting for and I sent - get lost in Hyper space- not even do they get to their junk mail box - if everyone had a zoemail those emails would not have been sent in vain....

Guess that is why I still use the phone :-)

Cheers!

I may have mentioned this before - so if i have - my apologies for repeating myself (spam get be infectious maybe?)

I actually ENJOY spam!  OK, maybe not the endless repetitions so much, but because it proves to me that there are people out there who are even more stupid than I am - and that can be a relief!

On the other hand Spam can be - and often is hilarious IF you learn how to look at it.  The sexual ones are a total hoot, with the latest ones showing something a Kentucky Derby Winner would be proud of, in the company of a rather stunned looking young lady is a classic example.

I am also totally fascinated by the ones offering a 'patch' - well for me the only patches I am aware of are those used in repairing flat tyres!  Now - you're way ahead of me aren't you? Patches, pumps - good grief!

Then there are my Japanese friends(?) who send me incomprehensible gobbledygook- and not even Japanese which would be difficult enough. Dodgy computer programmes, offers of incredible shares - all valued at about 2 cents but guaranteed to 'take off' (quote) are hysterical in the extreme - especially when they refer to things like Gold and Diamond mines.

Then we have the 'crazy millionaire' who insists he is so rich he just wants to give stuff away - for a ridiculously low price of course. If he is so rich - why is he bothering? Maybe he is crazier than he thinks?

And so it goes on - but as I say SOooo soothing to know I am not the bluntest pencil in the box - and sometimes I need to know that.

Cheers,

Norm

 To Joe Buccheri,

I am totally puzzled by your reply.

Why would a person of your stature and influence here at Adlandpro throw cold water on an idea which could benefit thousands of internet users?

You could have been the knight in shining armour who passed along the good word and then, of course, everyone makes their own decision.  I would be somewhat ashamed of myself if I thought that I had discouraged someone from looking at a piece of information before they made an important decision.

For my own peace of mind could I graciously ask you if you actually read my article before or after making your post here? Or maybe you didn't read it at all?

Seeing that I am totally missing your point, would you kindly enlighten me.

I would really appreciate that kindness.
