Re: Age is an issue of mind over matter...

It seems only the young (30, 35, 40, 45 and even 46) have comments about how growing old gracefully is something to look forward to. All the old people that I have meet and talk to, have a different view of old age. Basically if they could go backwards they would not hesitate to do so or, if they could stop aging, they would, without hesitation, accept that also. I also noted that young people are scared of knowing the truth about aging. They seem to find every excuse in the world not to do anything about it. Possibly they don’t believe they will ever age or, knowing the technology of today, they envision that someday, a company like Pfizer who put out Viagra, will come out with a similar pill to slow down the aging process. Possibly called “ “ViaLife” I am 58 and I can assure you, and please take this from somebody who has been there, old age is not fun. Mark Twain quoted a lot. Here is one I always liked: “ It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt “ Mark Twain The Ebook on Aging that my company offers to all, young and old is our contribution to humanity. Hopefully people will read it and find in it, the answer to aging they are looking for. Marcel, I like that quote, very much! “ It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt “ Also, thanks for including my voice among young crowd...48 is not so bad...I have been better, but remembering this is not making any diffrence. I like to say that:"this is only # the real age is in our mind and heart" Take care! Ania

I'll say I prefer aging to the alternative! :O [lol] And I using my mind to creatively stay young. Reading, writing, playing... and using lots-o-night cream. Smiling and giving thanks in all things help to take the edge off of anything even growing old. Opps, I'm only a young 47. Who am I to give advice on growing old?

Hello Bogdan, I've always said you are only as old as you think you are. I'm young at heart and I believe that is why I have aged at a slower pace. I'm the oldest of 7 siblings and my relatives say I look younger than most of my bothers and sisters. I can dance just about any young person under the table and I can still play a mean game of basketball with my son or my brothers. Yes age does matter, if it doesn't then maybe that is why that individual ages faster. I can't believe I am the age that I am (don't accept it I guess) and maybe that helps to keep me younger. My attitude keeps me young, I think I'm young so I act young (I stay active). My two cents! JOHN

HI Bogdan, Thank you for inviting me to your forum. Well, age is quite the subject...sometimes one that people do not like to think about or discuss. I, for one, am not afraid of dying, but I am scared to death of growing old! I do not want to be in my 70's or 80's and having to have others take care of me. That to me is an awful thought, and one I try not to think about! I do believe though that a person is only as old as they feel! Someone can be in their 20's or 30's and feel 80 at times, and then I have met some 80 and 90 year old people that act like they are still 20 or 30! I also think eating a very healthy diet, one with lots of veggies and fruits, low fat and sugar, very little red meat and more chicken and fish, plus the use of vitamins and herbs will help you feel great! My one grandmother lived to be 92 years old and she was always in good helth right up until 6 months before she passed away! She was a very spry lady with lots of energy, and she took care of herself. I think her lifestyle her whole life was the reason for it all. She never drank, smoked, took medicines and ate very healthy. Plus, she was a very righteous woman as well. "Age is a mind of matter" ...yes, I think I have to agree with that. Everything is just mind over matter! Thanks for the quote! Have a great day! Marilyn L. Ali
