Do not think that I could name a hrse without getting to know it. Horses have thier own personalities.....We have had 3 horses, Lightening(and she was fast as....) Renegade(he was an adorable rascal, and Dance(she walked like a ballerina)

I would NEVER have a horse w/ no name! I name everyone & everything. I give everyone nicknames. I would most defintely give a horse a name! Horse have always been my favorite animal. It would depend on the horse for the name. They all have their own distinct personalities just like people do. So the name would have to fit the horse.

Susan is so right.  I never named any of my horses until I had ridden them for a few days.  One of my favorites that I trained myself was ol Doc.  I spent many hours riding him.  There was nothing more relaxing than taking a couple hours riding Doc.  Now that I look back, maybe they all should have been named "Doc". Hmmmmmm......

I have a bad habit of renaming other peoples' pets.  My stepson has 2 cats, a big orange male cat that he and his wife named Pumpkin...I think Tabasco would be a more masculine name, because I once had a female cat named Pumpkin so I feel that's a female name.   They also have a small black female cat with fangs that stick out like a little vampire, they named her Pepper Ann.  I would have named her Elvira.

So in my mind, their cats are named Tabasco and Elvira!  (Pumpkin for a male? What's with Pepper Ann?  Seriously!)
