Hello Nick
I can see that this is getting way beyond anything I was trying to say in my posts on this forum. This is not about freedom of speech. I understand freedom of speech. I am a veteran myself. No soldier ever died so that others could poke fun at people who are suffering. I don't even understand how you made the connection between what I have said and soldiers dying for your right to have a forum like this. Certainly you have a right to post anything you wish and I am not debating that fact at all. If there is anyone in Adland that has ever spoke out about our rights and the way they are being taken away, it is me. This has nothing to do with Christmas trees or prayer in schools or any of that. It has to do with the insensitivity that people have with regard to others who may be different from themselves.. My whole point is this. Mental illness is a very serious illness. Just as serious as cancer, or heart desease or any other desease. Yet, those with mental illness are not treated like those with other illnesses. Not by society. Not by the medical professions, the government or the insurance companies. I just thought that it would be nice if those who are suffering with mental illness could at least be treated a little better by their friends. If you were dying of cancer, the last thing you would want is to hear a bunch of people laughing about someone dying of cancer. I really don't believe for a minute that that would cheer you up. On this very night, someone is dying of a mental illness and I truly hope that the last thing they see in this world isn't anything like this forum.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY
May a smile follow you to sleep each night,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
and be there waiting,,, when you awaken.
Sincerly, Bill Vanderbilt
