Hi Linda, This story is an incredible eye opener, because unfortunately most people take freedom for granted. May we all take the time to be thankful for the bravery and hardship of the men who made our freedom and independence possible, and celebrate the true meaning of July 4 Independence Day! :-) Thank you for sharing this! Bless you, Jill

Hello Linda, What a great forum you have made here! I did not realize some of the things that you wrote about here. Yes, freedom is never FREE! It is unfortunate that we have to live in a world that people have to fight for their freedom, for their civil liberties, etc. God created this world where everyone was suppost to be equal, and everyone was to get along...it's a shame it can't be the way that God intended it to be! But evil lurks everywhere in the shadows just waiting to pounce on it's victim. Too bad so many have to give into those evil ways. I will keep all those, that are sacrificing their lives, in my mind this coming 4th of July, and pray for peace to come about one day very soon! Thank you Linda for reminding people, Marilyn

Being a woman, the price of freedom and liberty is double. Women were not granted the right to vote until 1920. Women were not allowed to keep their wages from their jobs (most married women worked in the 19th century) and were not allowed custody of their children or even visitation in some cases if there was a divorce or the husband died. It was not a crime to beat your wife and if she died because of it, well, that was too bad. Women did not become full citizens of the US until the early 20th century, so I remember the price of freedom our forefathers and foremothers paid. I am glad to live in a country where it was and still is possible to change a bad situation. Thanks, Linda Kate
