Re: GUT INSTINCT OR SIX SENCE?

Hi Kathy; This subject is very fascinating to me. There was an article in Psychology Today magazine that told this story; The editor of a popular magazine approached psychologists and asked; "Is there a sixth sense?" They told her they would show her. They sat her in front of a computer screen and told her she was about to watch a series of images, some calm and others very emotional. On two fingers of her left hand, they attached electrodes that measure changes in her skin resistance. On a third finger they placed an electrode that monitors blood flow. Then, they left the room. She viewed 40 images. Then, a psychologist came back in the room. They viewed the charts together. In each case, her body responded with a bump on the graph BEFORE she saw the emotionally disturbing images. There was no "bump" before she saw calm relaxing images. Her body KNEW in advance. How? New research from Washington University in St. Louis has identified a brain region, the anterior cingulate cortex, that acts as an early warning system. They are doing more research to try understand how it works. All they know is that the body reacts in advance, and the signals come from the anterior cingulate cortex part of the brain and we "feel" them in our gut. Hence - gut instinct. As for me - I believe that gut instinct or "sixth sense" is something bigger than me sending me a message. Whenever I have ignored my gut instinct, I have regretted it. : ) Linda

Hello Kathy I'm sorry. I quess I could have actually addressed your question a little more specifically. LOL Yes I would resort to my 6th sense in certain cases even involving my children. I have in fact done so already in the past. Thank God it has not ever been in a life threatening situation yet. The truth of the matter is though, many life threatening situations are the result of accidents or other emergency type events and you may very well not have anything but your gut instincts to follow. So, my answer to your question is Yes. May a smile follow you to sleep each night,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, and be there waiting,,, when you awaken. Hi Kathy, I would definitely follow my gut instinct, not what others think I should do. The reason I would follow my gut is I believe we are all blessed with guardian angels and what we consider "gut instincts" are in fact our Guardian Angels helping guide us through this life, keep us safe. Based on this belief it would be very dangerous not to listen to my gut, I think.
