I believe that your gut instinct and your 6th sense are one in the same. There have been many times in my life when I have made decisions with little else other than my gut feelings to base them on. The gut feeling concept is accepted by more people than the 6th sense I think. The 6th sense seems to have more to do with the para normal and many people still do not accept that as logical reasoning yet. There have been many people who have proclaimed these special powers but few if any have ever been tested more than Uri Geller. His ability to use his 6th sense has been tested around the world and it has been determined that no trickery is involved with his powers. He appears to be genuine. I highly recommend reading any book either by him or about him. There is another series of books about this type of phenominon that I highly recommend reading.
The Celestine Prophecies. Although this series of books is written in fiction, there is a very interesting explaination of why. Personally, I believe that there are more than the 5 senses that we are accustomed to using. There is too much about life that cannot be explained just using these five senses. God and religion are two of these things.
