Hi Marilyn,
You must be one of the most generous spirited people in this whole Community. Your support for your friends is truly a example to us all.
You asked for an opinion. and here it is.
On the one hand, I love to see these people honoured and have the chance to get to know them better.
One small problem - which may be doesn't bother everyone - it is really my personal opinion and is not personal to anyone involved in this kind of forum in any way.
Today, when I switched on my compùter and opened my post I had 197 emails from Adland Pro! Of those 197, nearly three quarters were invitations or follow ups to forums honouring fellow members. (If I join a forum, i try to follow the thread.) Result, I have spent a very long time sorting them all out, because i do not like to leave posts unread unless they are clearly unsolicited advertising (old fashioned manners my Mum taught me, i guess)
RESULT - I am suffering from information overload and have managed to lose the post inviting me to read about your own life in New York! I went to reply and.... heaven alone knows where the mail is!! IRONY.
I am delighted for all the people honoured, but just find that, there are so many different forums honouring people for one reason or other now - all good ones i might add - that there isn't enough time in a day to pay read to them all. Personally I have found my friends through joining some of the other forums - reading people's views.
I pray that noone reads into this reply anything that it not intended or takes offense - that it not my intention at all. I have no wish to hurt anyones feeling either.
It's just that you did ask, and knowing you a little, you usually mean what you say.
